August 7, 201114 yr Hi, I am really enjoying the NGX and have not had any problems with it whatsoever. There is only one thing I've found difficult so far - vertical speed mode. When departing from a given airport, I select HDG mode, SPEED and then I seect the V/S button after haaving chosen my desired altitude. The problem is that despite having +2000, +3000 or even +4000 the aircraft goes noe down into a dive. I am stumped! Can someone give me some guidance on this? It is the ONLY problem I am having - besides finding time to fly the NGX between nappy changes and bottle feedings!!! Matthew Bellette
August 7, 201114 yr Does the plane follow the heading course? Dmitriy Kotov If it is not IFR conditions it is not fun.
August 7, 201114 yr I noticed this on my first flight, but then I remembered one of the PMDG guys saying how important it was to trim the elevator properly before takeoff. When you're setting the initialisations such as ZFW, Cost Index etc, you page over to the Take-off page where you set your take-off flaps and Centre of Gravity. Just click on the CG LSK and it will give you the value, and when you set CG you will get the Take-off elevator trim value. So far I'm having more luck with the LVL CHG setting for the climb (which sets an N1 setting instead of SPD) and the VS setting for the descent. Mike Beckwith

August 7, 201114 yr Matthew, Can you post a picture of your panel when this happens? Just as an aside, you shouldn't be climbing like this in VS. Use LVL CHG or VNAV instead.

August 7, 201114 yr that's same problem hereI have also asked on another topic, but unfortunately no solution.http://forum.avsim.n...-vertical-speed Hikmet Cercevik Intel® Core i7-2600K CPU @ 4400Mhz | 16GB DDR3 @ 1600Mhz | nVidia GTX480 @ 700Mhz | 22" LCD Monitor @ 120Hz 3D| OCZ 240Gb SSD | Raptor 300Gb HDD | Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit | FSX | Prepar3D
August 7, 201114 yr Commercial Member Remember, there is no speed protection in VS mode.Correct - you can stall the airplane in V/S. You should never use it for climbs except for very specific circumstances involving small altitude changes where LVL CHG or VNAV would produce too much of a vertical speed change for passenger comfort. (the 5000 to 6000 thing in the tutorial flight is a great example - even though I did it in VNAV there, real pilots would do that type of thing in V/S.) August 7, 201114 yr Author Yes, but when I select a climb of any number, the aircraft goes into a nose dive. Never did this with the FS9 NG!!! Matthew Bellette
August 8, 201114 yr Author Anyone able to help with this? It is very frustrating that I cannot use V/S to ensure I reach a set altitude by a certain waypoint. Matthew Bellette
August 8, 201114 yr Anyone able to help with this? I tried when I asked for a picture. Can you explain the steps you're doing to get the nose to pitch down? When are you going to V/S mode?
August 8, 201114 yr Author I rotate off the runway and hold the runway heading. I trim to enable the yoke to return to the neutral position while maintaining my climb. I have the runway heading in the MCP, along with my desired altitude (eg 8000) and speed (eg 195kts) and select a climb rate of 1800fpm before selecting the left AP button. I have both FD's on, A/T is on, with the SPEED, HDG and V/S buttons all pressed on and lit up. I ensure that my V/S is positive, not a negative number. After all that, my aircraft nosedives. August 8, 201114 yr I just tried three times and I can't reproduce this, sorry, Matthew. Someone else might be able to, but I'm unable to give you any help if I can't reproduce it. Any chance you can post a picture or two? Say one before AP engagement, and one after? EDIT: Also, what's your weight?
