In some cases it is necessary to switch from APP to HDG + ALT HOLD to switch runways, make a 360 turn for separation or like in LOWI to turn left at AB for doenwind for opposite runway heading. I tried several times, but for me it was not possible to change from APP mode to HDG and I had to disconnect the AP. How can I do it? Cheers Wolfgang

August 9, 201114 yr Wolfgang, No. The only ways you can disengage APP mode is by pressing TO/GA, disengaging the AP and turning off the FD switches, or by retuning the NAV radio.
