August 10, 201114 yr Hello, This problem has been plaguing me since I purchased an Asus 460 GTX (Oced apparently) this past Christmas. This is a problem all across the sim. Not just with any PMDG airplane or the NGX. That being said, I hope you tech gurus can help me fine tune the issue. I am currently running sliders to the right, REX HD clouds and waves, 50% AI traffic with little boat and road traffic. I am also running LOD radius at 7.5 and texture MAx load at 4096. All this runs rock solid at all add-on airports with out a hitch. The lowest FPS I get are an avg of 25 with the NGX and the J41 along with the 747 at select airports. However, its running on a 4:3 17inch monitor at 1280x1024x32 resolution. I also have inspector set up as Ryan told us in his thread with 8xQS FSAA and I ran my fsx.cfg through Bojote's tweaking tool. Here is the issue, when I go to my 23 inch 1920x1080x32 resolution, I cant get more that 20FPS with any add-on plane at any add-on airport. I have tried disabling bufferpools and that does help A LOT. However, It makes it unstabel and I get random fatal errors in High scenery places. I even knock down FSAA to 8x and back off the HD clouds and loose REX wave animations. Its so frustrating to see people who run a monitor like mine or even tow to three monitors and dont see a performance decrease. I think there is something tweaking that I am missing or I jsut need help getting my hardware to run well with each other. Here are my specs... 1st generation i7 920 OCed to 3.6Ausus 460 GTXRampage II Gene MOBO9G of stock RAM ( ITs extremely slow......I have it in my BIOS reading like 1033 and the timings are in the 9-9-9-24 I believe)...could this be the bottleneck?normal 7200RPM 1TB HD (Seagate barracuda)850W PSU (Thermaltake Black Widow)X-Fi PCI Sound Card Do I just need a better Clock speed from my CPU or is the GPU just not able to handle the extra pixels? I really appreciate any help. I am finally fed up with letting a really nice monitor collect dust especially when it cost me some hard earned cash. I also want to run the NGX on the monitor because after seeing the sim back in HD, I got furious about the whole situation. To put in perspective, I cant even run carenado planes at add-on scenery. August 10, 201114 yr You might try reducing autogen to dense & cutting traffic back some. Those are generally 2 of the biggest performance killers Kenneth Weir My Saitek yoke mod i7 2600k @ 4.7 8GB Gskill CAS7 2x GTX580 SLI Surround + GT520 Accessory Win7x64
August 10, 201114 yr I have similar specs (i7 920, ATI 4890, 12GB RAM, W7 64bit) and I'm getting 30+ FPS in addon scenery and IFR weather... oh, and running at 2048x1152... You should try *******' tweaks. Isaac Magalhaes
August 10, 201114 yr Author Oh I forgot to mention....putting auto gen to dense would mean an increase in that regard when I try ot run on the higher resolution. I have all the ******* tweaks applied. I ran my .cfg file through his tweaking tool online Issac.
