August 10, 201114 yr If I am flying a manual approach, what are the conditions for the A/T to idle automatically for the flare? I tried to land in phoenix tonight but had to go around because on the flare my A/T decided to spool all the way up. Ryan Vanderbrook
August 10, 201114 yr Library Administrator Well, I think the plane just wondered why it should land in Phoenix, probably wanted to go somewhere better. :) Brian A. You will still need to DISCON the A/P since there is no centerline guidance. Randy J Smith

August 10, 201114 yr So for a manual landing do I need to disconnect the A/T myself?Yes. There's a keyboard command you can setup in the PMDG Options pages through the plane's CDU. I've got mine bound to Ctrl + Shift + T or something like that. I have one of my joystick buttons mapped to send that keypress combination. I'm not sure exactly how it's done in the real world, but I disengage the A/T at the 50 ft callout and pull the throttles back. Cheers, Mike
August 10, 201114 yr AT use is recommended during T/O and CLB in either automatic or manual flight. During all other phases of flight AT use is recommended only when the autpilot is engaged.
