why the frontal glass are thinner then left/right glass windows? after the MD11....

Featured Replies

after the MD11 (virtual cockpit without glass cockpit) and many posts about it by me and other users, finally i see the glass windows inside the 737 VC but since the beginning i had a strange feeling. after a small and short test finally understand. tell me if im wrong: the team has made the frontal glass windows thinner then left&right ones, right? its easy to understand it coz if u look the same point with the frontal and then the left/right windows the colour is different...lighter with the frontals ones...almost invisible..like MD11&747 feeling like im flying the MD11...i dont know what to say...why u dont give me/us the chance to select or not the glass without doing a frontal thinner one (x example like the simcheck A300). when i fly - at 99,9% - i look the frontal glass. after the MD11 u did again!!! if u dont understand what i mean ill post 2 screens. the plane is wonderful but pls - this time - when the team will release the sp1 or a fix/patch incluse the same glass cockpit that we see on the right&left. after 70 bucks for the MD11 and another 70 bucks for the NGX can i be a bit blow up? thx in advanceddavid lee soon ill post 4 screens

That's a representation of what it would likely look like in real life. You're viewing the side windows from an angle rather than face on, so the refracting light will cause more glare.

think what u want but im inside a plane cockpit and not riding the bycicle or motorbike or the aircreation trike ultralight. in not asking anything hard to make. just a simple glass.

This is one of the more hilarious complaints I've seen yet. -stefan

Seeing as how we're flying a "simulator" for a PC, I'd rather have a relatively clear view out the front of the plane than a "realistically worn" looking front windscreen interfering with my view. Small defects and whatnot are great, but plopping something like the side windows into the front view would be a big downer IMHO. Don't the full motion simulators forego glass entirely?

+1 I don't want any bird sh*t on my windscreen, even if that is very realistic Hypnotized.gif

You might want to try and remember that engineers spent hundreds of hours creating a glass that specifically resists reflections. You obviously want something that's like the default aircraft, but this is not how aircraft glass looks in the real world. There it is very rare to see any reflections, especially in the forward screens. I really don't think they left it out in some sort of a bid for "save 1-2 fps". If you want a window that looks like a mirror, jump in the default 738.

have u seen the second picture that ive uploaded? the difference is so clear. im not talking baout clean or dirty glass but im talking about the frontal glass...why dont let us to give the choice if select or not? doesnt take weeks of work..just a couple of hours. ill see what the pmdg reply about this. the frontal glass look so trasparentthat u wont even notice it especially in the middle..same feeling like the MD11 just a bit better...if u move with ezdok u wont see any contrast colour the second shot is so clear. see the colour contrast.

i really appreciate a PMDG answer but especially i really really appreciate if in the next release of patch or 600/700 and ER series an utility that allow me/us to have the same glass like the left/right one, just let us to choice it or not. the frontral look too trasparent to me. can u pls can consider this? is the second product that i buy and still almost the same situation regardsdavid lee

David- I think your perception of what you see sitting in the cockpit are products of imagination and disregard the reality of the environment. As an earlier poster described, a significant amount of engineering, materials selection and color matching goes into the process of making certain you do NOT see reflection on the window ahead of you. The reflection off of your DV windows is not nearly so important as that is not your primary view source. This model very faithfully replicates the very low glare environment, and no- we do not plan to create an option to introduce something that isn't there in the airplane.

Hi Robert, first thx for reply me. im not talking about the reflection or dirty or flare glass. i dont care about this. my question is about having an option/utility for choose a frontal glass with the same thickness (not about the reflection or flare) for have a better feeling (that now i dont have) that the glass is there in front of me coz is so trasparent and no contrast colour as the lleft/right ones that seem like i dont have glass in front of me..same like md11 feeling

hi PMDG team, i was looking inside the textures folder and ive seen (using photoshop + nvidia plugin) that is only 1 dds file needed to modify for make the frontal glass a bit darker and not too much invisible (so in theory wont take too long time!!). the texture is: PMDG_NGX_VC_Glass.dds but i cant modify it coz is locked and then im not an expert. can u pls make 2 or 3 versions of it with little darker colour but the darkness must be visible especially in the middle of the glass (similar the right/left glass). please im also waiting for the ER series and cant wait it to fly. ive have removed the file to show u the area (soon ill post the pic):

David, there is a good reason for everything we do, and the color of the front glass is one of them. No, we will not be providing any further modifications to the glass textures.
