Essential Changes

I have made some necessary changes to some of my a/c due to not being to where I can acceptably enjoy them. For example, I have increased the speed-brake effect, the braking system, and engine power, and the Mach Speed. (using AirEd) However, I got a problemo... (1)Does someone knows how to increase the altitude limit at which an a/c can fly-- on the F-18? (2) How can I increasae the Mach speed/knots speed limit on the Airbus X and the MD-11 ? (Vmo and Mmo) I have tried the CFG "reference speeds" but this will not work-- once it gets to Mach .85 or 90, I get the "over-speed" "over-speed' And, I want to be albe to increase the speed limit a bit. Thanks guys, Johnny

Any ideas..on how to make those changes ?

The Airbus X and Md-11 (Pmdg I'm assuming?) are both highly complex and accurate. Why would you want to alter their performance when they're practically spot on to the real thing? Also. The flight characteristics is all in the .air file. And for both those addons, the overspeed and other speed limits are set within the panel gauges/.dlls.

'Hello NGX,I tried to open the .dll but all I get is a bunch os symbols and caracters...with what should I open it? I have manged to make these changes with all other add-ons within the a/c CFG file, but it's not working on these mentioned a/c.

Hi Sawyer, to go a bit higher and faster on some of my a/c. My F-18 will "flame out" at 50,000...I hate it...engines won't start at or above 50,000 feet. I have this one flying at Mach 4.60, I'd like to be able to reach 100,000 ft or higer.....For fun!

DLL's (Dynamic Link Library) are executable code, so you can't open it with a text editor. They are used to expand functionality to an application, in this case FSX. For example the PMDG dll's allow them to program their systems to do things, FSX were never originally designed to do.

You realize by modifying and Airbus X or PMDG modules/gauges etc other than the Aircraft..cfg and textures is a violation of their EULA. You can't modify the PMDG's or Airbus X's speeds or whatever because everything is hardcoded into the panel and virtual cockpit. These are ultra realistic aircraft. The flight dynamics are perfect. You don't need that extra bit of altitude because these aircraft were never meant to go that high in real life. And as I said before, if you edit these speeds and values, you also have to edit the gauges, virtual cockpits, sounds etc to modify the overspeed warnings.

i thought that I heard somewhere that the AIrbus X's systems were as deep as Australia's damns (not that deep at all in a lot of areas) but I have used it and the flight dynamics are great.

We're not talking about it's systems depth. We know it's not full systems. I'm talking about it's complexity and it's flight dynamics. Either way, modifying it is a violation of the EULA.

As long as he doesn't distribute the file with the changes who will know or care? I'll be blown if somebody is going to tell me what I can and cannot modify for my PERSONAL use, regardless of it being realstic or not. Just dont expect any support. Airbus X.....highly realistic? Now I am doubting anything else you say!! Just%20Kidding.gif Are you on a "get the fastest number of posts in 24 hours" mission or something?

hahahaha okay the flight dynamics are pretty realistic.... systems aren't the most detailed hahaha I was giving aerosoft some credit for their hard work!!!! f. Thanks for providing me with all that legal jargon, but I still maintain (sue me if they want) that I will make changes to the .air file or the .cfg file should I see fit for my own personal use. If I dont tell anybody or distribute the changes then who will know? Have you ever owned a Carenado aircraft? Its almost a requirement to make .cfg changes on them.

Aircraft .cfg is okay to alter as mentioned in point G. But altering files such as the .dll's or the gauges and panels is a no no

That's actually a slippery slope, because FSX itself has a similar limitation in it's EULA, and goes further with the rule
  1. You may not work around any technical limitations in the software;

Something we do as a user base everyday, with some of our tweaks, especially ones like *******' Shader Mod. Developers of complex addons like PMDG, themselves violate this rule when they have to create DLL's to get FSX to do things it wasn't designed to do. They are working around a technical limitation of the software to do this.

Thanks
