August 11, 201114 yr Greetings all, I've noticed that when flying into KLAX, the waypoints from the last point on the approach (eg: RIIVR, on the RIIVR2 arrival) and the last few runway waypoints (eg: on the rwy 25L approach eveything from LUVYN to GAATE) never seem to show up on the FMC. I always need to add those waypoints manually. Is this by design, as it's annoying to have to do this everytime I fly into LAX. Also....the RIIVR2 approach has a crossing restriction at RIIVR of "at/above 12000, at/below 14000". Does the NGX FMC allow me to add such a restriction, and if so how do you do it? Or do you just enter 12000, or 13000, or 14000? Ron Priever
August 11, 201114 yr Are you using the navdata that was included with the NGX? If so, make sure you're selecting the RIIVR transition for the ILS 25L. From the sounds of you not having the waypoints from GAATE to LUVYN, and not having the 12K/14K restriction at RIIVR, it sounds like you aren't selecting the ILS transition. If I don't select the RIIVR transition for the ILS, it just goes direct from RIIVR to HUNDA. This is what I get when I select the RIIVR2 STAR with HEC transition (Not shown obviously), and the ILS 25L with the RIIVR transition.
August 11, 201114 yr As Chaos81 said in the previous post, those waypoints are not a part of the STAR, but rather a part of the IAP ILS25L Johan Pettersen

The format would be 12000A or 14000B, that's it. And yes, the NGX is one of the first to allow for good soft restrictions so you might wanna give it a shot.
August 11, 201114 yr Author A-HA!!......I see what I did wrong. I guess I must have missed that "transitions" prompt after I chose the rwy 25L arrival. Regarding the at/above question. I know about 12000A, or 14000B. However, is there a way to program both at the same time, ie: 12000A AND 14000B? The problem with choosing, for example, 14000B is that the plane could possibly cross at 11000 or 10000, which busts the lower end of that altitude restriction. It probably wouldnt go below 10000, as the next crossing restriction on the chart is LLUYN at 10000. I'll try to find this in the manual if I have time this morning. Ron Priever
August 11, 201114 yr Common Boeing terminologyfor the FMC for this would be 14000B12000A or 12000A14000B. i7 3770K HT, 8GB RAM, nVidia 980GTX, Win7, P3D 3.4, FSG mesh, UTX, GEX, ST, ASA16/ASCA, NickN optimized
August 11, 201114 yr Author Common Boeing terminologyfor the FMC for this would be 14000B12000A or 12000A14000B. Yep, that's the answer. I entered that exact string, and the FMC accepted it. You can also add a speed restriction, for example 250/12000A14000B. Ron Priever
