August 11, 201114 yr Hi, Did the tutorial flight several times now to get a little bit familiar with the plane. In the tutorial there is this altitude transition from 5000 to 6000 feet at page 64. There it's said to switch the altitude on the MCP to 6000 and press Altitude Intervention. Whenever I push that button after I set the MCP altitude to 6000 nothing happens. Am I missing something here? Pipster
August 11, 201114 yr Hmm I wouldn't know. I haven't done the tutorial but I would assume you'd have 5000 set on the MCP, be at 5000, pitch mode VNAV ALT. Then reset MCP to 6000, hit the button and pitch should go to VNAV SPD. What does your FMA say before you hit ALT INTV?

Thereafter, have managed to tranistion from whatever initial altitude restriction to the next height as per the Legs section in the FMC just by selecting ALT INTV ensuring that both LNAV and VNAV are selected and then the aircraft climbs to the new altitude set in the MCP.Have already done a 100 hours using this method with no issues whatsoever.Hope this helps. August 11, 201114 yr Alt Intervention is mostly used if ATC want you to go to a higer altitude or delete waypoint alt restrictions.Otherwise just fly your flight plan. Fred. Frederic Steiner.
August 12, 201114 yr Author found out yesterday that for some reason I'm not in VNAV when I alter the altitude to 6000. After pressing VNAV again and then altitude intervention it works. Now I need to figure out why VNAV was off at that point :S
