August 15, 201114 yr Had this working when I did an autoland (LAND 3). But will the "runway overlay" be seen if I did a manual landing?Of course, that's what it's for. AIII is not an autoland mode in any way (you can still use it of course if you like), IMC is. AIII is used for manual <=CATIIIA landings so yes there will be an overlay.
August 15, 201114 yr Check this out. It's the actual HGS manual. Section 2-4 has control panel info. Thanks. Nice doc. Best regards, Fritz ESSONO
August 15, 201114 yr Is there any way to enter the runway lenght in meters or how do i know if its in meters or feet? Reason i ask is that most charts from navigraph the runway lenght is in meters. JONAS JENSEN

Will try again next flight. Thanks for the tip. Will also look through the confusing flight manuals... Roy Joven T. August 15, 201114 yr It's feet at any time. I don't like it either, but you've gotta do the conversion yourself. Will also look through the confusing flight manuals...Yeah, there's a lot to it. Well, did you stay within AIII criteria all the time, did AIII definately engage? Otherwise you'd have a NO AIII indication that would tell you otherwise, and you'd most likely loose the overlay as well. Other than that, as long as the HCP is set up correctly, the overlay should be there.
August 15, 201114 yr I believe I set the parameters (runway length, landing elevation) correctly and there was no "NO AIII" indication. Roy Joven T. August 15, 201114 yr Roger, and you confirm were in AIII and not PRI during approach then? I will do another test run here as well in any way.
August 15, 201114 yr Roger, and you confirm were in AIII and not PRI during approach then? I will do another test run here as well in any way. Yes, and I know that if you see AIII ARM condition, somewhere in the approach it will change automatically from PRI to AIII mode completely. Roy Joven T. August 15, 201114 yr Ok, just making sure. I don't know yet why you wouldn't see the overlay but I'll make another attempt asap.
August 15, 201114 yr This was based on the HGS Manual (as posted by near the top of this thread). The HGS buttons on the NGX are so small that I can't make out the labels. Browsed through the manual. I think I didn't press the ENTER key, although runway length and elevation value were stored. I guess that made a difference from my other flight. Roy Joven T. August 16, 201114 yr On my last flight from RCTP-VHHH, I realized my mistake when setting up the HGS panel. I should enter the runway length and elevation then press the ENTER KEY in the HGS to confirm the values. Saw the nice runway overlay on finals. Roy Joven T. August 16, 201114 yr Yeah you need press ENT, correct. Also correct is that the values are "stored" when you hit RWY in between entries (that does not mean they are confirmed yet, it just means it won't forget the values when you change back and forth from EL> to LN>). In fact you can enter both values and press ENT once, that will confirm both at once. The ">" mode is the input mode. As long as you're in there (by not pressing ENT) the values willl not make it into the HGS. Consequently, pressing CLR will discard your changes. E. g. hitting CLR in entry mode until the display blanks, and thereafter hitting ENT will restore the old values that you had before entering input mode.
