August 18, 201114 yr I was doing some RTO's to test some V-speeds calculated by Topcat, but after the first successful aborted take-off the RTO autobrakes weren't functioning any more. All I get was the autobrake disarm light and no actual braking at all. Before I'll send a ticket I want to be sure that I'm not doing something stupid here. Anyone willing to test two RTO's in a row? Thanks you! Daniel Verhaal
August 18, 201114 yr What were your brake temperatures after the first rejected takeoff? The NGX simulates brakes fading when they get hot, so maybe that was what happened. You can change to carbon brakes, that may work better for that kind of experiment. / Tom Tom Risager NGX tutorial: http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?Location=AVSIM&Proto=ftp&DLID=162360 SIDs & STARs Worked Examples: LOWI-UUDD, KSEA-KLAX, EKCH-ENGM, YSCB-YPAD
August 18, 201114 yr Author Brake temperatures were well within limits. I have tested this also disarming the autobrakes the first time to avoid overheating the brakes. The problem is that the autobrakes will not activate at the second RTO's. It will just show the auto-brake disarm annunciation. Daniel Verhaal
August 18, 201114 yr I had rejected takeoff twice, with a short taxi between them. When I took off on my third attempt, I brought up the landing gear, I got a master alarm wheel well fire lol. I checked my gear temp, and it was showing 9.6! I leveled off, dropped the gear, and air cooled them... I then checked the failures menu, and sure enough I had 2 failures pertaining to overheated brakes...

Have you SP3 installed? Thanks. Daniel Verhaal

Thanks you!I've noticed this as well as the fact that if I am just flying approaches to full landings and doing everything manually including no use of autopilot, a/t, or FD, after I land the first time and taxi back to the active and take off again RTO wont work and when I land again the autobrakes disconnect as soon as the wheels hit the ground. This is all with the latest service pack and with cool brakes.I actually mentioned this a few times as well as a few other people, but no one from PMDG had responded to the posts. I suppose I could submit a ticket but at this point its not that big of a deal, altough it would be nice if I could get it to work correctly.Sean Campbell Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
August 18, 201114 yr Author Thank you Sean, So it looks likes the auto-brake function is working only once for some people. Did you remember if it was working before SP3? Daniel Verhaal
August 19, 201114 yr Hi Chris, Thank you for reporting. Did the autobrake kicked in both times? Have you SP3 installed? Thanks. I've got version 1, and the auto brake worked both times...but I didn't apply any brakes on taxi....
August 19, 201114 yr Moderator Thank you Sean, So it looks likes the auto-brake function is working only once for some people. Did you remember if it was working before SP3? I honestly don't remember if it was working correctly with the 1st version, but I started to noticed that after update 2 and update 3 it wasn't working properly. The funny thing is that if I fly a pattern using the autopilot, auto throttle, and flight director then it will work again after the 1st landing, but for some reason if I fly the first circuit completely manually with no AP, AT, or FD, then it wont work on the second go around. I guess the a/c doesn't like to be flown for more than one circuit without help from the auto pilot? Frankly, I probably wouldn't have ever noticed, but usually when I get a new a/c I like to spend a lot of time hand flying the a/c before I start using automation, that way I get a good feel of how it flys in case something goes wrong and I need to hand fly the rest of the route. Had I not done that and been practicing landings and take offs I sans otto I probably would have never noticed.Maybe sometime I will submit a ticket on it.
