August 19, 201114 yr Hello, Path to fs9 C:/Program Files (86)/Microsoft Games/Flight Simulator 9 This is the path I type into the rcv4.3 box when I hit rebuild scenery database. Something is wrong because it finishes way to quick. Instantly it runs through makerrwys and bulding ac4.asv. It cant be done that quick. I remember years ago it went through tons of files and took like 5 minutes. And traffic is on short final that does not exist at KBUR add on airport so it must not be doing anything. Probably another case of pilot error, would not be the first time. any suggestions? Thanks Marc Lynn
August 19, 201114 yr Did you start RC4 with a shortcut set with its properties set to run as admin? Did you copy the FS9 path from the shortcut properties that starts FS9? I have mine in a .txt file with a shortcut on the desktop. It saves typos. You also should have the updated makerwys.exe as pinned in the link topic at the forum head. Is RC on the same PC with FS9? If so, you answered No to the WideFS question, correct? Look in your FS9 folder for r5.csv. Right click on that and check the modified date-time to see if it matches when you ran the scenery rebuild. Then in your RCv4\data folder check the date-time stamp in there for r4.csv and a4.csv, the two file created. The size of r4.csv should be the same as r5.csv. It is just a copy that is renamed. You are correct in that you should see makerwys bringing up a dialog box that increments runways. It can take quite a while. Are you running RCv4 version 4.3845? If you go into the RCv4 folder and right click on rcv4.exe then clicking properties/version it should read 4.0.3845.
August 19, 201114 yr Probably you just forgot the 'x' in your path: C:/Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Games/Flight Simulator 9 Michael M. Wiendl
August 19, 201114 yr OK I have a question. The Makerwys readme said to put it in the FS9 folder and run it from there. So my question is after I run it in the FS9 folder do I do the rebuild database in the RC4 program. It sure does seem like nothing is being done in the RC4 program when you do the rebuild data base, but when the Make rwys is run in the FS9 folder it takes about 15 minutes. Inside the RC4 folder there is a Makerys batch file, what is this for. BillAlso if RC4 is on the same computer with FS9 we should answer yes to the Wide FS question. I have no idea what Wide FS is. Bill
August 19, 201114 yr You must put makerwys into the main fs9 folder and double click on it so it will run.Don't know if it takes 15 minutes, depents on how many scenery's you have installed. Then run rc4 as administrator.Rebuild scenery db button. If it is on the same machine as fs9 you can say no to the wide fs question.Enter the fs9 path and click ok.It will create couple of .csv files (you must press ok) Enjoy John Think wide fs is if you run fsx on 1 machine and rc4 on another John Cramer
August 20, 201114 yr If you have entered the FS path correctly (no spaces at the end of the path) then if you have RC4 set to run as admin it should execute makerwys.exe where RC and FS are on the same pc. Running makerws.exe first and then running RC again starting it with admin level and ansering 'yes' to the Wide FS query will just copies from the FS network path you provided to the RCv4\data folder. You can check in your FS folder the properties for r5.csv and in rcv4\data r4.csv for the same file size and date stamps to insure the file was copied (and renamed) by RC plus it generated a4.csv. If the copying did not take place as determined by mismatched sizes then either RC was not started with program level admin privileges to perform the execution in the FS folder or the incorrect path to FS was given, the latter necessary even for just the copy process. . You must put makerwys into the main fs9 folder and double click on it so it will run.Don't know if it takes 15 minutes, depents on how many scenery's you have installed. Then run rc4 as administrator.Rebuild scenery db button. If it is on the same machine as fs9 you can say no to the wide fs question.Enter the fs9 path and click ok.It will create couple of .csv files (you must press ok) Enjoy John Think wide fs is if you run fsx on 1 machine and rc4 on another
August 20, 201114 yr Author Ok got it to start but now it gets part way through and stops with a windows box that says "Makerwys for RC and FStarRC has stopped working" windows tries to find a solution but cant. The problem with the path was the x in x86 so thanks for that and thanks for the help so far. I wonder if this is another windows 7 thing. RC is started as admin. Marc Lynn
August 20, 201114 yr Try excluding makerwys.exe from all of your security applications. If you run it directly in your FS folder does it also quit? So far I have not seen this error mentioned that I recall. Here is what the makerwys.exe completion screen looks like: If it doesn't get this far something in Win 7 protection or another security application is stopping it. If does work running it directly then use the method described for WideFS by running it first within your FS folder, then starting RC Scenery Rebuild, answering Yes to the WideFS question, and then furnishing your path to the FS folder and continuing. Once done close RC and then compare the size and date-time stamps (properties) of r5.csv in your FS folder and r4.csv in your RCv4\data or RCv4X\data folder to see if they are the same size and very close on the date-time to verify that r5.csv was copied to r4.csv in the \data folder was copied. This will tell us if that copying portion completed. The in the \data folder you can check the date-time stamp for a4.csv, which RC creates from r4.csv, to insure the rebuild process completed. It should be close to the confirmed date-time for r4.csv. If all works then this second procedure will get around whatever is blocking the normal non-network procedure.
August 21, 201114 yr Author OK thanks for the help. I ran it again and noticed it stopped on taxiways for KSNA. This is an add on freeware airport. So I removed the folder and deavtivated the scenery and whalla, perfecto. Thank you and may we allways build a perfect scenery database Marc Lynn
August 21, 201114 yr That may have been also something in your scenery.cfg file, not sure. Can you specify what scenery that was and a download link so it can be used as a test? FS9 or FSX scenery.
