August 23, 201114 yr I am not a particularly patient person. I followed the tutorial for the NGX, but to be honest I could neither be bothered nor have the patience to sit and read thousands of pages in the operating or Flight manual but I really love flying in the NGX. I start my flights in an airport, sometimes I go through a checklist while other times I just click things by memory. I enter my route, take off, click buttons when I need to, land then click a few more buttons. It's just the way I like doing it. I don't really know what most of the buttons or switches do or what they are for... I just click them and things work.................... until today. It was one of those clicking from memory days, and I took off as normal, things this time though went a little different. During the climb, the Master Caution light came on.. eh..#####. Nothing was indicated on my annunciator panel, then I noticed there was something lit on the FO's side. It simply said Air Cond. Nothing was listed in the QRH so I decided to have a look at the Overhead panel when all of a sudden I got this God awful warning horn. So now I have two problems, the Air Cond which I assumed to mean Air conditioning, and this bloody horn that I couldn't shut up. I know there will be a button for it somewhere but I'm buggered if I can find it. Anyway, while I'm looking for the horn button, I notice that the FO's annunciator panel says Overhead now, so I look at the overhead again and see the Passenger Oxygen On light is lit. So, after removing my headset (I gave up looking for the horn cutoff, which by the way I have since found... Doh!!!) I decided to actually investigate and see what was different from any other flight. After investigating, I discovered that I had failed to switch on the Bleed Air for the engines after switching off the Bleed Air for the APU. What the f*** has the Bleed Air got to do with the Passengers Oxygen light, doesn't that just provide the nice climate in the plane for the passengers. Apparently not..... It would also appear that the Bleed Air also provides for the pressurization of the aircraft. So (and correct me if I'm wrong) I guess what I did wrong was provide a way not only for the Air Conditioning to not work, but I also provided a way for the passengers not to be able to breathe at higher altitudes due to the lack of pressurization in the plane, hence the release of the Oxygen Masks. Damn this plane..... things were so simple before it started to make me have to actually learn what the systems do........ Now what folder did I put that bloody manual in. Things that I've learned. 1. The FO's anunciator panel has different warnings2. What Bleed Air is, and what it's for.3. Where the Alt Horn Cutoff button is. Trevor Hunt
August 23, 201114 yr Don't worry we all make mistakes from time to time.... example I couldn't get the NGX to climb over about 17000ft, no warnings, nothing. After ruling out wind, temperature and pressure, etc affecting the engines and scratching my head for about 75Nm looking around the cockpit I had left the landing gear down.... Talk about feeling an idiot lol.Anyway upped the gear and flew on reaching my destination with around 500 pounds of fuel left rather then the 5000 pounds that the plane said I should arrive with.Moral = lesson learned LOLJohn Ellison

This might be helpful !! The warnings on the Captains side are from the left of the overhead panel. The warnings on the FO's side are from the right side of the overhead panel. This what is known as " Boeing Logic " and the manuals do not really make that clear. I hope you have fun learning more about this plane. Fred. Frederic Steiner.
August 23, 201114 yr Very nice story. I had similar things going on in the beginning and have learned a lot since then. Makes me appreciate more what PMDG have achieved with the NGX. It's truly outstanding. Gerrit
August 23, 201114 yr The warnings on the Captains side are from the left of the overhead panel. The warnings on the FO's side are from the right side of the overhead panel.Fred. from the top of my head let me verify ... the FLT warning on the captain's side usually relates to the yaw damper which is indeed on the left side of the overhead panel.the aircon and the doors warning appear on the FO side and indeed relate to items on the right area of the overhead. So ...you are correct and it also makes perfect sense. Do you have more of this sort of logic design thingies that are worth knowing ? August 23, 201114 yr Damn this plane..... things were so simple before it started to make me have to actually learn what the systems do...... By the way, the NGX is not the first add-on with this behavior. I remember flying a 737 in FS2000 (or was it FS98?), even before there were Virtual Cockpits in flightsim, that sounded the horn for the same reason. But you are right, it's much more fun to actually understand just a bit WHY you are pressing the buttons. Because of that basic understanding I can usually spot a mistake way earlier. It's worth noting that IRS on the Capt side refers to the left AFT overheadand ENG on the FO's side refers to the right AFT overhead. Another example of Boeing logic would be the individual panels on the overhead !!Take a close look at the Bleed air and Airconditioning panel. The logic is actually etched into the panel. It clearly shows that the APU and Engine 1 are on the left side of the bleed air system etc........ Have a peek ! Fred. Frederic Steiner.
August 24, 201114 yr Have a peek !Fred. the link to your picture 6-packs.jpg appears to be broken ... but i suppose it's a screenshot of the packs? Antoine v Heck --- Ryzen 5800X3D, 32Gb DDR4 RAM@1600 Mhz, RTX3090 (24GB VRAM). 2TB SSD - VR with Quest 2 via link cable
