  1. Personally, I hate PMDG and I hate the NGX.........................They have just made it impossible for me to fly another aircraft without saying it's ok, but it's not exactly a PMDG or it's ok but it's no NGX. Although I might have to try the MAJ Q400 which I hear is pretty good, and it's got a SHARED cockpit so c'mon Cap'n Randazzo, if they can, surely you guys can. There was a nice surpise for those getting the T7, then a nice surprise for the release of the T73ER. Maybe you can give us loyal NGX drivers a nice surprise in the form of a shared cockpit in SP2 (if it ever gets here).
  2. In Sullenbergers own words. "About 90 seconds after take off I noticed there were birds filling the entire windscreen from top to bottom, left to right, large birds.. too close to avoid. You could hear them, loud thumps. It felt like the airplane being pelted by heavy rain or hail, it sounded like the worst thunderstorm I'd ever heard growing up in Texas. It was shocking". I think it's extremely likely the engines received enough damage to render them inoperable.
  3. I disagree, freetards have to get the full product from somewhere, and generally it starts with someone who has bought the product and hacked the activation. Do you honestly think they would have any qualms whatsoever about sharing the manuals any more than they would about sharing the actual aircraft. I do understand your point about going online, etc. and of course the quickest way is to look in the manual. Let me say this though, I am no thickie but when I flick through those manuals, some of the stuff in there is extremely overwhelming, and not everyone is so adept at reading manuals. Some people just like to fly and imagine they are pilots, some like the navigation aspects, some like to think of it as a full flying experience. Point is, a person asking a question is a person willing to learn and helping them on their way with the basics might push them into actually wanting to read the manuals. Since they have have already taken the time to ask the question is it so hard to answer it AND offer the helpful advice that as a starting point they should try and work through the tutorial as it will give them a better understanding of the aircraft. It is a complicated beast at it's heart, and the manuals can be equally as complicated, and not everyone has the same skill levels in either flying the aircraft or reading the manuals about it.
  4. I've always found one of the most annoying things on many forums is smugness from those who know the answer to an innocent question and are unwilling to part with the information simply because the person didn't happen to take the time to wade through a manual, or use the search function or whatever. My philosophy is that a much more community minded not to mention helpful and pleasant approach to take is to simply answer the question politely and courteously if you happen to know the answer even if you've answered the same question a thousand times before. As my old granny used to say "It's nice to be nice" rather than taking the smug, self satisfied, arrogant, smartass and quite frankly rude approach you took. That for example is a good representation of a nice approach on how you can answer someone helpfully and politely. It was brief, concise very helpful and probably took much less effort to write than the unhelpful useless nonsense you decided to reply with, and from what I've seen, just one of the many examples of helpful replies that come from not only Ray but quite a few others on this forum. Perhaps you need to reach more for their standards than implement your own. Sorry for the rant, but it's a pet hate that I see all to often.
  5. I am not a particularly patient person. I followed the tutorial for the NGX, but to be honest I could neither be bothered nor have the patience to sit and read thousands of pages in the operating or Flight manual but I really love flying in the NGX. I start my flights in an airport, sometimes I go through a checklist while other times I just click things by memory. I enter my route, take off, click buttons when I need to, land then click a few more buttons. It's just the way I like doing it. I don't really know what most of the buttons or switches do or what they are for... I just click them and things work.................... until today. It was one of those clicking from memory days, and I took off as normal, things this time though went a little different. During the climb, the Master Caution light came on.. eh..#####. Nothing was indicated on my annunciator panel, then I noticed there was something lit on the FO's side. It simply said Air Cond. Nothing was listed in the QRH so I decided to have a look at the Overhead panel when all of a sudden I got this God awful warning horn. So now I have two problems, the Air Cond which I assumed to mean Air conditioning, and this bloody horn that I couldn't shut up. I know there will be a button for it somewhere but I'm buggered if I can find it. Anyway, while I'm looking for the horn button, I notice that the FO's annunciator panel says Overhead now, so I look at the overhead again and see the Passenger Oxygen On light is lit. So, after removing my headset (I gave up looking for the horn cutoff, which by the way I have since found... Doh!!!) I decided to actually investigate and see what was different from any other flight. After investigating, I discovered that I had failed to switch on the Bleed Air for the engines after switching off the Bleed Air for the APU. What the f*** has the Bleed Air got to do with the Passengers Oxygen light, doesn't that just provide the nice climate in the plane for the passengers. Apparently not..... It would also appear that the Bleed Air also provides for the pressurization of the aircraft. So (and correct me if I'm wrong) I guess what I did wrong was provide a way not only for the Air Conditioning to not work, but I also provided a way for the passengers not to be able to breathe at higher altitudes due to the lack of pressurization in the plane, hence the release of the Oxygen Masks. Damn this plane..... things were so simple before it started to make me have to actually learn what the systems do........ Now what folder did I put that bloody manual in. Things that I've learned. 1. The FO's anunciator panel has different warnings2. What Bleed Air is, and what it's for.3. Where the Alt Horn Cutoff button is.
  6. I have two [smokesystem] entries in the 900NGX WL config, One entry matches the one listed in the hotfix, my entries in the config are [LIGHTS]//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo, 10=cabinlight.0 = 4, 51.500, 0.0, 5.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclightlight.1 = 4, 50.000, 0.0, 4.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight [sMOKESYSTEM]smoke.0 = 50.500, 00.000, 5.000, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclightsmoke.1 = 51.500, -1.000, 5.000, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclightsmoke.2 = 51.500, 1.000, 5.000, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight [sMOKESYSTEM]smoke.0 = 49.000, -1, 5.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight Is that correct or is the bottom one an extra entry that shouldn't be there
  7. Hi, I also received a Program Pin Error on the CDU. I can't remember much about it because I was on a final approach to EGBB RWY 15 after doing a GA. What I do know is the FO's CDU was still working fine and I already have the hotfix installed. I wish I could give you more information but at the time I just assumed it was something to do with something I programmed (I'm still learning) and carried on with the landing.
  8. UAC stands for User Account Control (it dims the desktop and asks if you wat to open a file or make a change etc.) Assuming you are using Windows 7, Click in the start menu and in the Search box type UAC and press enter. This will bring up the User Account Control Settings window. Move the slider all the way to the bottom so it reads Never Notify.
  9. Go to your FSX folder, right click on fsx.exe and select properties. Click the compatibility tab and tick the box labelled Run this program as an administrator at the bottom and click ok. As the fsx.exe is called from the bat file it should then run as admin. Alternatively if you can live without the security of it then you can completely disable UAC, which is what I did as it was just a pain in the hass.
  10. Mine was at 27100 at one stage, the hotfix sorted it out for me.
  11. Uniform - CheckOvernight Bag - CheckElectronic Flight Bag - CheckHand Sanitizer - CheckSterile Gloves - CheckGood to go. As the NGX appears to model their plane on reality we are left with only one conclusion..... you RL pilots are a pack of grubby mingers ...
  12. I agree. I've heard people say that Europeans prefer the Airbus, while Americans prefer the Boeing. Personally I think it's just more down to personal preferences than anything. I'm European, and I'm just not a big fan of the Airbus. It's just seems too "clinical " for me, whereas for me you can almost feel the history in the Boeing, even with the latest technology in it (I'm sure that sounds daft to most people but that's just the way I feel about it). It's not that's the Airbus is a bad aircraft or that the Boeing is better, it's just a personal preference. I do think the Airbus needs someone to do a "PMDG" on it though, because that would be as popular a move as the NGX was. I just don't think it will be PMDG that do it.
  13. He's still a tightass who will screw you out of every last penny he can, c'mon he even tried to get out of his obligations as a carrier during the volcano groundings. I do realise though that a lot of what he says is purely to shock people into giving him free advertising whether good or bad. I have flew with them many a time because I'm aware of how to dodge the "extras", and get the cheap flights....well I did until they pulled out of Belfast, so now I can't anymore.
  14. Of course, the download is just one 663MB exe file. They also EXPECT you to back it up so you don't lose it and have to pay to re-download it. The security for the product is in the activation.
