Realize the question's been asked before, but I'd like advice for my specific system. I've got a Samsung 64 GB SSD and a 1T WD Black HD. Where would you put: OS, FSX, ADDon aircraft, ADDON scenerey, ASE, UTX, RC, etc? Also, say Santa brings me a 128 SATA III SSD for Xmas to add to the other two, how would my configuration change. And doesn't some of this stuff have to go into the FSX folder-aircraft & scenery? Thanks Dan Cole

Okay, with the 128GB SATAIII SSD: 128 SSD:

  • FSX
  • Addon AC & Airports

64GB SSD:

  • Windows and major programs (Antivirus for example)

1TB:

  • UTX
  • REX
  • GEX
  • ASE
  • RC
  • photoscenery, mesh, terrain, textures etc all the big addons

W/Out 128GB: OS on the SSD, FSX on the 1TB

with just two - put the OS on the SSD. Put all else on the HDD. Might create a partition just for FSX and the rest for Storage/add-ons. If Santa is good to you - move the FSX install to the bigger SSD - be sure to keep the same drive and folder structure and you'll have no problem. Keep your add-ons and storage on the HDD Vic

I agree with NGX... Some addons you'll have to install with FSX, like Orbx for example. But most of the other ones you can install on a separate drive. FWIW I use a 120GB SSD for FSX + addons (all my scenery addons are off drive except orbx PNW and NRM). I currently have 63GB free of 111GB total. I have a ton of payware planes (currently about 12 installed), Orbx, plus FSDT airports and FlyTampa airports (6 total).
