JS41 eats Ngx FPS wise

Featured Replies

My sim is smooth. That is what matters to me. Don't care about FPS counter.

Yes as what Brad said!.....Is it smooth, then all is just perfect. It hasn´t so much to do how high FPS you guys have, it´s all about a nearly stable FPS anda FPS from 12 and upwards would be good as long as it stable and no stutter. It´s no at all like Fs9, where you couldn´t go as low as 12./ Leffe

Totally off tangent but in regards to the mantra of "all that matters is if it's smooth:" this is highly subjective. My eyes (or brain as it were) are very picky on frame rates. With TrackIR I start getting headaches if it goes below 30s, I don't care if it's rock steady at 22fps. Some people may not mind though but I'm just sensitive to it. Now, without TrackIR a steady mid-20s is generally fine as it's not too noticeable (i.e., I'm not moving around the camera constantly to notice it). Personally, with any thing with quick movements, which TIR can do, I am not 100% happy below a steady 60fps but 30fps is livable as long as I'm not wiping around my view for fast visual approaches. And yes, I'd take a rock-steady 30fps over a widely fluctuating 40-60fps any day but I'll take a locked-in 60fps over either of those any day, too. Like that'll ever happen in FSX.

Under 30FPS Are you kidding...Spoiled for choice!

Not really. I am envious of people who claim they don't care what their FPS is and they can play just fine at 18fps. It means I do more tweaking than flying in FSX and it limits the airports I can fly into happily and planes I can fly. I tried PMDG's 747 last night after a long time and it was a painful experience. It also reminds me I think it did perform worse than their JS41. I love the exterior, though -- hopefully sometime there'll be a redo of it to bring it up to MD11 looks and performance.
