Changeing planes problem

Featured Replies

Hello When ever i exit out of the simulator session to change my aircraft my flight Sim tends to freeze, i can select a new aircraft but when i go to fly again all i get is a black screen. I have noticed this has started after installing the #3 Hotfix. I have tried to do a reinstall of the 737, but this provided no resolution. Any suggestions on how to fix this

a support ticket is probably your best bet to et that sorted out.In the mean time you could completely close fsx after a flight & reopen it. Takes a bit longer but it'll get you by in the mean time.

I just submitted a ticket. I had been restarting every time but that's very time consuming as you said.

This is documented in the Introduction manual--to some extent. "One shortcoming of all PMDG products for FSX is that ourproducts do not like to be “re-loaded.” This means that if youhave one variant of the airplane selected and running within thesimulation world (say, a 737-800 with winglets) and you wish tochange liveries to a different 737-800 with winglets, you may runinto a simulator lock-up if this is not done carefully.Getting around this limitation is simple: Load a different variantfrom the one you currently have loaded in the simulator. Usingour example above, since we are already flying a 737-800 withwinglets, simply choose a 737-800 or a 737-900, and thenchoose the 737-800 winglet model you wanted in the first place. This easy method will keep you from having to reload FSX whenswitching between liveries!" The workaround suggested frequently does not work. You're best off reloading FSX in that scenario. You can fly many flights (don't do the End Flight thing) using the exact same aircraft (same variant and livery) without any problems though.

I've been having a very similar problem. Any time I take my focus off the "flight" i.e. changing aircraft (the same way the Introduction states), going into options and even pressing ESC then continue flying this happens. The screen goes black or the plane disappears or some odd stuff happens. I'm waiting for the dancing hippo to pop up next time I turn on the lights Alien.gif. Seems to have been like this after the latest hotfix. When you get a reply from PMDG, please state what they tell you to do :) Thanks!

This is just the way FSX works I`m affraid. If you are using a great add-onn such as the NGX or other then exiting a flight and trying to re load another aircraft especially a complicated add-onn aircraft then you will notice issues.Best to just quit the sim then reload what you want to save having any issues.Poor coding on ACES side, hopefully flight will be better.

Sorry, I guess I've been a little NGX-centric lately and thought that's what you were doing--people are actually flying other stuff? blink.png

Sorry, but that is simply not the case at all. So far I've run FSX (with dozens of addons) on 3 PCs, each with a different operating system and, not once experienced that happening.

Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
