NGX Causing FSX to Crash

Featured Replies

Hi KenHow do you "revert" back to before? I thought REX changes ALL your FSX files. And if the performance hit is only with PMDG then what? I'll try the mesh add-on first...see how it goes.decisions, decisions ,decisions.Shocked.gif
It replaces existing texture files with higher resolution textures, but it also backs up your current textures to a user-defined location. That way you still have the originals & can copy them back into fsx if you want. I've never had to restore a backup so I dunno if it's automated through Rex or if you'd have to do it manually

exactly the same problem I disabled REX. Did 1 flight OK, then it froze again, but this error did not come up since REX was not active.. Hopefully a fix is coming..
Adan, Your rig is quite dated now. Todays addons (like the NGX) just push rigs to their limit but you still need CPU grunt. I don't think a fix from PMDG is going to change this.

Don't know if this helps, but here is a post from Ryan of PMDG regarding .NET CTD's: "The NGX **does not use .NET or smartassembly**. Period. It is literally impossible for the NGX to crash due to either of those things - it's some other app causing the crash. The NGX is pure C++ and a bit of XML, neither of which have anything to do with .NET or smartassembly. Your error logs specifically mention REX, which is a .NET/smartassembly app and is known to cause error windows like that. Please stop blaming the NGX for things it's not responsible for. Do some research about how these error message work. A C++ app cannot give you .NET errors." Ryan Maziarz
