September 25, 201114 yr After reading the thread last week about the release of this product and reading positive comments over at the hovercontrol forum, I decided to add the 222 to the hangar. The deuce flies well and is probably more realistc than the default 206 using the improved hovercontrol .air file. As a desktop sim, it's probably as good as it gets, perhaps slightly falling short of the fidelity offered by the Dodosim model. But it's a challenge to fly and make good landings. VC-wise, it's as good as they come. Totally TIR friendly, you'll be hard pressed to find gaps/holes in the VC when looking around. Night lighing is also well done. I replaced the FSX default GPS with a dual RXP 430WAAS (dual instantiation, not cross filled) until I get the funding to get the 530. It doesn't have autopilot so installing the trim gauge by Mike 'some1' Krawczyk is essential for avoiding getting a sore wrist flying between Orbx PNW "demo" airports. One thing I don't care for is external lights being coded into the mdl instead of using the fx file. Strobe/nav effects are cheesy using the mdl approach. The wheel color is also odd (greyish), but this I can fix with ms paint. So, all-in-all, a great helicopter for $35. FSX is made for slow and low and helos are perfect for it. I'm still having trouble landing it though, it's very easy to lose it. I suspect the real ones are just as challenging though!! Do you know what is the proper realism settings for this bird? Right now I have everything 50 percent with Gyro drift off. That seems to work for me, but I'm not sure if that is realistic. There is no help in the manual on this, and they have no forum. September 26, 201114 yr Author hmmm, cockpit night light looks good, except for the aft cabin being somewhat too bright. I'll see how that AP works, should ease the work load. Only had to tweak the aircraft.cfg (tweaked the version from the hovercontrol site) for the view point to match perspective of the 3d pilot:[Views]eyepoint = 6.6, 1.30, 1.38 and for those who may be interested in dropping in the rxp gauge in panel.cfg: gauge11=rxpGNS!GNS430,7,647,395,164gauge12=rxpGNS!GNS430, 7,811,395,164 As for the sim realism setting, good question. I think the general realism at least has to be set to max. I'm setting other realism settings to what the turbine duke calls for. Besides, controller quality and sensitivity/null zone are also variables that affect how this thing 'flies' so there's so much we can expect. Wish someone can do the 'Careflite' livery... September 26, 201114 yr hmmm, cockpit night light looks good, except for the aft cabin being somewhat too bright. yes, it looks to yellowish in my opinion. Feelthereish so to say. I'll try your "[Views] eyepoint = 6.6, 1.30, 1.38" tweak. Thanks Vic
