HOTFIX 2987 still does not correct 737's FSX Multiplayer UDP Flooding

Featured Replies

The recent HOTFIX 2987 still does not correct the 737's FSX Multiplayer UDP Flooding, or its associated Free Flight performance reduction. After 2 MONTHS, and with a predicted ONE Week to the release of SP1, it seems unlike that the UDP flooding will be fixed by SP1. When PMDG first released the 737NGX, I approached them, highlighting the problems, with specific technical examples of this mechanism, and the offer of FREE help, I was told privatly, and then quite inappropriatly in public, in this forum by PMDG that they did not want my help, and I was to stop communicating with them. I honoured that request, in the hope that if I left them to it, they would resolve the issues before SP1. They still might, but the recent HOTFIX does not give indicate much hope. As it stands, even after the HOTFIX 2987, the 737 will UPD flood any FSX Multiplayer session, to such an extent, that it will eventually crash the session. So be it -- I see no point is beating my head against a brick wall, and to be blunt -- why should I continue to care ? The FSMP FSX-2 Multiplayer server now has the unique ability to filter out this flooding, allowing the PMDG 737 to operate on the server, without causing any UDP flooding issues to player or the server. As the FSMP server is the ONLY FSX Multiplayer Server that has this ability, PMDG's failure to listen, or to fix the issue, will only drive more traffic to the FSMP server, Thank you PMDG im%20Not%20Worthy.gif

Well, in my server I have thoroughly been testing the NGX today with a friend and we have seen absolutely NO indication of server flooding. No comm lags, and no overall server lag. The plane seems to have been fixed by this patch.

Try landing a 737NGX at night with 10+ other players in the session !!! Loser.gif But, if you are expereincing no issues, LUCKY YOU :)If you had 10 friends, you might be saying something different,

Maybe this issue is only unique to you? I have not been monitoring my UPD ports, but I can fly the NGX from Boston to Dublin without a crash or losing connection once. Last night there was a HUGE Event at Toronto (CYYZ) with about a 100 pilots flying in from all over the world. Granted they were not all there at the same time but when I got there they had about 15 on the ground and 25 in the air and I had no issues with lag.

Does not appear VATSIM has this issue either. So yall drop by and visit us now. Big%20Grin.gif

Guess VATSIM doesn't have this problem either. Last night there was a HUGE Event at Toronto (CYYZ) with about a 100 pilots flying in from all over the world. Grantee they were not all there at the same time but when I got there they had about 15 on the ground and 25 in the air and I had no issues with lag.
100% CORRECT .. Vatsim does NOT use FSX Multiplayer -- Vatsim has it's own MUltiplayer SERVER-CLIENT software.

Hmmm that's strange that you are having issues.. My friend was flying the A2A Piper J3Cub and he was sending more packets to the server than I was. I was flying the NGX.... Also, when raising the spoilers that made NO difference on UDP flooding. This patch seems to have fixed ALL MP issues for me.

Well if your having that much of a problem why are you still using FSX Multiplayer? Why not fly on an Online Network?

He runs the FSMP server. It is one of the largest most sophisticated networks within the flight simulation community.

Larger than VATSIM? I doubt it.

I did not say larger than VATSIM. BUT, FSMP always seems to have a good 15-20 people in the session.

Like PFS in FRANCE we note the same issue on our gamespy server.

Well guys SP1 is not out yet so who knows what will or won't get fixed. But calling the Dev team out in public is probably not going to get the results your seeking.

Geoff- It seems to me that we have had this conversation already- and I have invited you to cease participating in this forum. You waltz in here throwing your weight around as if you are some incredibly gifted system administrator/programmer who is here to save PMDG from what we do not know. The reality is that the least capable member of this team has probably forgotten more about coding for FSX than you currently know. Your advice to this team is worthless because you haven't the *slightest* clue what is taking place in the background, or how we interact with the simulation. After we mildly tolerated the last round of your Bravo Sierra Mud Slinging Tantrums in this forum we received a nice round of insincere apologies from you and your ilk. Perhaps you didn't notice that we still did not respond to you? We know more about what we are doing than you do- and yes we find your demands and needs to be pedantic and petty compared to the greater good we serve to our larger customer base by pushing the FSX technology beyond what you can possibly dream it is capable of. When we roll that process out to our customers it will be unfortunate that it may/may not conflict with your own favorite hobby- but I will not withdraw technological advance out of fear that it leaves you behind. In the mean time- I am politely requesting that you cease bringing this topic up in this forum.
