Question from an SFP rookie

Featured Replies

As a passenger, I have flown in and out of Rio's Santos Dumont airport on 737 classics several times. I'm very impressed at your rendition of the -800 SFP! My question is if SFP pilots use flaps 5 for take-off, or do they go 10 or 15? I'm sure there is a payload restriction too. Thank in advance for any information on this. I recommend doind the SBSP-SBRJ-SBSP shuttle with this airplane! Luis Linares

I think it's flaps 15. And 40 upon landing. Don't forget to knock 5 knots of the VREF in the NGX. The SFP VREF reduction isn't computed by the FMC in the PMDG rendition. Will definatly try SBSP-SBRJ-SBSP

I've never flown to Santos Dumont, but I have flown the SFP. We use whatever the take-off performance calls for. Usually it's F5. Off of a short runway, it's F25/Bleeds Off.

While I can't comment on your particular case, all I can say is that it's common procedure to calculate data for every single takeoff. So your flap setting may and will differ. For such a short runway however, I suppose you'd easily be in the 15-25 range for takeoff depending on conditions. sig.gif

GOL uses for takeoff from Santos Dumont flaps 15, but if the temperature is too high and high weight, the pilots also use FLAP 25. 737-800 SFP forever! ^^

Thanks for all the responses! I learned something new, especially since I thought flap settings never exceeded 15 for take-off, regardless of airport. Thanks again/Muito obrigado! Luis Linares
