MCP Combo Power ?

Featured Replies

I apologize for posting this on LINDA Support but I dont know where else to ask (I have done google and yahoo searches). Does the panel work better if the 5v Universal power supply is used?If so, how can I use it in the USA? It may be a "universal" supply adapter but it certainly will not plug into outlets here. My MCP Combo arrived last evening and I am eager to get it set up and running with LINDA on my JS-41 and Embraer Regional jets. Thanks for helpNeal H.

The support forum is here;http://vrinsight.com...B3_en/index.php A search for the words "vrinsight mcp power" in Google found me this in the 4th item of the search.http://vrinsight.com...c.php?f=7&t=187 To answer your question here, yes you should use the power supply that comes with the MCP, if its the MCP2 you have no choice the panel will not work without the power supply. The original panel may work but its safer to use it anyway and plug into a USB port that is directly connected to your PC's motherboard try not to use a USB hub if you can. If you have to use a hub make sure that is powered too. You can buy an adapter at any electrical store to plug the supplied power supply into, but I remember someone saying somewhere that VRi now supply adapters for various countries with the new panels although I cant confirm this. This may not be true for the original MCP Combo as there could be a lot of old stock out there still.

Cheers, Andy.

Hi Neal, you can use the universal power supply, just buy a adapter 16705A.jpgThe power supply supports 110-220 V, so it should work.

Thanks for such quick responses. I was not using the correct terms in my search Andy so I missed that trouble shooting post. Wish VRinsight would put info like that in the box. I have the original MCP Combo and it has just the round plug. I found it on Amazon for 87 cents but the local radio Shack sells them for $12 + Shocked.gif Guess where i will by mine? LOL.gif

You may be able to get away without using one with the original MCP, its very much dependent on the quality of the USB port you are connecting it too and whether its directly on the motherboard or a hub. If you have problems with the displays acting strange or certain buttons not working it may point to a lack of power being supplied through the USB port, in that case the external PSU with be needed.

Cheers, Andy.

Thanks Andy. Oddly enough, this morning I mentioned the PS to a friend and was directed to the luggage section of Wal-Mart. Got a good one cheap and am ready to fire up the MCP Combo tomorrow. Spent several hours today rearranging my desk so that everything is easy to reach.Happy flyingNeal H
