January 18, 200422 yr Hello,Like many others I am finding this great freeware program "shoot" to be absolutely wonderful. Picked up a Plantronics headset for $29 and it works like an absolute charm!Wondering, though, is there a way to get the program to start automatically when i start up FS9? i can't imagine flying without it now, so I'd like to have it start and quit whenever I run FS.I guess related to this (though possible even if the former request can't be done), how do you get a profile to autoload? The instructions explain something about a "command line" to do this, but I'm not sure where to enter that text. Thanks for any help,Joel
January 18, 200422 yr Joel,There is a module that interacts with FSUIPC to do this. I know others know its name and location. For Shoot. Create a shortcut to shoot.exe. For the target put:C:Shootshoot.exe profilesfs2004.xmlAdjust this for your path.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
January 18, 200422 yr Check out FSAutoStartup by Konrad Koch. It can be found in the AVSIM library. Great program with a lot of startup options.
January 19, 200422 yr Thanks Phil... :-)Another FREEWARE Program I've just added. The FSAutoStart. What a Great program. More proof that FREEWARE is not only Alive and kicking but Flourishing here at Avsim. Thanks for the heads up,Regards,Joehttp://aboutpolitics.net/images/bannerav.gif.About Politics.net - FORUMShttp://pub162.ezboard.com/baboutpolitics.Contribute to the Richard Harvey Scholarship Fund.http://www.avsim.com/pages/scholarship.shtml CryptoSonar on Twitch & YouTube.Â
January 19, 200422 yr Or, look for "FSUIPC Run options" here or at peter dawson's page - adds some lines to FSUIPC.ini that enable other programs to start when you start FS9...Best,sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5Â (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
January 19, 200422 yr You're welcome Joe.Gridley,I used to use FSUIPC Run Options and it does work just fine but the reason I switched to FSAutoStartup is because I can enable and disable start items with a mouseclick. For example, if I am going to do some multiplayer flying then I start FSAutoStartup and check the things I want to run such as FSChatHelper, Teamspeak, Teamspeak Switch, etc. If I am doing design I just check AFCAD2 and uncheck AS2004 so I don't have to deal with real weather. It's great and does everything and more that FSUIPC Run Options does. Really worth checking out.See the attached screenshot for a little of what it looks like.
January 19, 200422 yr I made the runoptions and I agree FSautostartup is better when you have several ways of using FS.Thanks for the heads upJos
January 19, 200422 yr Great! I'll be sure to check it out. I had stayed away because its another .dll in my modules folder, figured it would be more overhead. Nice to be able to start different groups of addons with a click, though. If you don't start the program, but rather click on just the FS9 icon, can you define a 'default' set of programs to start, or is it just the last set of programs you have enabled that start with FS9? Or do you have to start FS via the autostartup ui?Thanks,sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5Â (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
January 19, 200422 yr Thanks, sounds like a good program. Any hit to FPS or does the FS Autostart program quit and not take up resources once FS9 is started?Best,Joel
January 19, 200422 yr Gridley,Another cool feature... the screenshot I posted doesn't really say a lot but here is how it works... if choose the items you want and press the start FS button, the settings are saved, FSASup exits and FS starts. The next time you double-click the FS icon it will use the last settings set in FSASup. You can also set your settings and simply press the OK button and FSASup saves the settings and exits. The next time you run FS using the standard icon those settings will be used and will remain the default until you change them using FSASup again.Joel,FSASup does not remain running in the background. As I stated above, once you save your settings you don't even have to run FSASup again unless you need to. There is a DLL in the Modules folder but I have not noticed any effect on performance using this product. And look at some of the individual program options in this capture...
January 19, 200422 yr Wow, can't wait to try it. And a nice, friendly interface to boot. Looks like the author did this much-needed program justice!Best,Joel
January 20, 200422 yr Hi,There is no hit to FPS at all. All resources that program is using are freed after launching last program from your startup-sequence.Best regards,Konrad KochAuthor of FS AutoStartup utilityhttp://majora.net/fsautostartup(sorry, site is temporarily down)
