Plotting flight course over charts to review?

Featured Replies

Hey all, Just wondering - can anyone suggest any way to record a flight path and overlay it over charts/plates? Also, it would be good if you can also view this in real time. I've seen a bit about AivlaSoft's EFB, but it may be a bit of overkill as I just fly GA. It's also a bit on the expensive side, and requires a subscription to keep current with charts. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks,Andrew

EFB is the best choice, but you might wnt to try this, it's 11.50 (GBP), although I think there is a free trial: http://www.wideview.it/fsearth/ Flight Keeper can do something kind of similar to EFB too, although on the ACARS gauge. Al

Thanks guys. Al - can EFB record? My primary goal here is to begin practicing more precise navigation, and would like to be able to compare my flight path to nav charts/plates after the fact. I didn't see that as a function on their website. cheersAndrew

Im sure FlightSim Commander9 allow you that, i think it makes a file you open in google earth. FSC9_Google_large.jpg

You can use the above program to record a flight to be displayed in google earth, then use the following KML file to display sectionals/terminals etc into google earth: http://www.gelib.com...ited-states.kml If you're hoping to have it overlaid on a approach plate you are probably out of luck. GEO Referenced approach plates are expensive and I doubt any FS programs have that capability.

Thanks Noah. I think if EFB recorded, that would work, as it shows flight path over approach plates, including a profile view. I'll probably email them to find out if there is a way to do this. Andrew
