January 21, 200422 yr thankswhat is your configI see a lot of complaints about this Nvidia driver on this forumregards
January 21, 200422 yr Just my two cents ! If you look at "www.megascenery.com" you will see that FS2004 seems to have that problem with flickering and to solve it just drop your "mipmap down to 4" and that really solved it for megascenery which by the way is the greatest add-on scenery I've seen in simulators !!!Good Luck !TONY
January 23, 200422 yr Have you checked your refresh rate? A problem with Win XP is that it wants to run at 60hz, and this may well cause a flickering effect in 3D apps.....are you using a CRT (conventional glass tube) or TFT monitor? Refresh rate flickering will be very noticable in games on a CRT monitor; maybe FS9 is worse? I use a 15" TFT which gives aprox the same screen size as a CRT 17" monitor and is maxed at 1024x768 @ 60Hz but, being a TFT, it doesn't suffer the low refresh rate problem that you'll get with a CRT. Go to www.guru3d.com and download one of the Nvidia 'tweak' programmes.....any one of these will allow you to not only maybe boost your cards' performance a little, but also to set your own refresh rate which will overide Win XP's limit of 60Hz. If you run at 1024x768 then at least 75Hz will do you well, and you won't get any flicker. If you run a larer TFT it may well still work for you as you should idealy look for at the aforementioned 75Hz at 1024, maybe 85Hz at 1280x1024.....whatever your monitor, be carefull though...refer to the manufacturers ratings as to the max refresh rate for any given resolution: if you go too high you could do damage, or at very least go outside the range of the monitor and lose your picture, requiring a reboot into Safe Mode to reset it.Hope this helps... ;)
January 23, 200422 yr as said above I am using a CRT Iiyama 19", on this display I have menue buttons which allows me to double check the refresh rate(vertical and horizontal sync) I am having on my screen when I run any programI have set 1024*768(32) with 85hz both on my display panel and in FS2004 ( only definition you can set in FS2004 not refresh rate)when I run FS I check on my display menue the sync and it confirms 85hz vertical sync + a lower number for horizontal sync ( I don't know how you can change this horizontal sync ) ( I hope I am not confusing vertical and horizontal !!)I have tried several combination of definition (lower or higher, does not make a difference in flickering)and refresh rates from 60hz to 120hz which my displays allows : 60hz is worse, 120hz does not give a significant improvement.I am surprised by whay you say about XP limitation: when you modify the refresh rate on mydesk do you mean it's not taken into account by XP?and as said above my flickering problem seems to appear only with FS2004 it does not appear with FS2002 or other gamesthanks for your helppatrick

January 23, 200422 yr OK, sorry, I missed the part about your monitor in the original post! Anyway, as it is a CRT you could well be suffering from the well publicised 60Hz issue/bug with Win XP. Maybe the flicker shows up more in FS9 than with other games, I don't know...it's been a while since I dumped XP in favour of Win 2000....if you haven't done so already, go check out the forums at guru3D.com ....there have been many posts regarding this issue over the last couple of years, and there are several ways to 'force' a decent refresh rate.
