January 21, 200422 yr I primarily fly GA aircraft at smaller airports. I rarely fly airliners and rarely use large international airports. Am I correct in assuming that My Traffic is more "GA friendly" than Ultimate Traffic? Does either one provide more AI at amaller airports? As an aside, I've used Flight Simulator since I had it on a cassette for a Timex Sinclair computer. I think I've had every version since, and still have FS2000 and FS2002. FS2002 is still on my hard drive. Since getting FS2004 for Christmas, I've purchased my very first payware. First, I bought all the FSGenesis mesh for the US along with the US Landclass. It made a huge difference in the appearance of FS2004.Then I bought my first payware airplane, Dreamfleet's Archer II. I've been enjoying it a lot. Now I'm in the market for another one. I'm either going to wait for Carenado's updated Beech Bonanza, or maybe spring for FSD's Navaho.Jim
January 21, 200422 yr I have UT, and it may be my imagination, but I seem to see less GA traffic than before installing it. I waited until UT was FS2004 compatible, then I purchased it. I will say that I'm very satisfied with the product, as it met my needs perfectly. I wanted a "no fuss-no muss" product that I could install and then have a traffic environment more representative of the real world. I could care less about real airline schedules and gate assignments. I wanted a simple to use program that once it's installed requires little or no further attention from me, and that is what I have. If you want to delve deeper into AFCAD and schedules, then the capability is there, but that just isn't for me.Bottom line is that UT truly did transform the FS AI environment, and greatly increased my enjoyment of the game.Tim13
January 21, 200422 yr JimUT is regarded by most as the best AI payware program by a mile.Cheers :)Josh
January 21, 200422 yr I have UT and fly almost completely in smaller airports. Right now I am up in Alaska and there are plenty of GA and small airline aircraft in most areas I fly to. The key is in configuration when you set it up.
January 21, 200422 yr Hi Tim,Are you gonna believe what someone who calls you 'Jim' says? Lol, couldn't resist. All I'm gonna say is that I love MyTaffic 2004. They also have a modified flight plan you can install that allows you to turn you AI traffic slider down but still keep 90% of your GA traffic.Carenado's planes are pretty good. I really like their Cessna Centurion 210M. But I also have the FSD Piper Navajo and it's really outstanding!Cheers,Jim - KDEN
January 21, 200422 yr I went for Ultimate Traffic 2004 these are my thoughts after using it for a couple of months:POSITIVE:-1: Lots and lots of nice looking frame-rate friendly airliners filling all my AFCAD2 gates (with correct callsigns etc). Some GA no military.2: Saves you lots of time assigning aircraft to flighplans yourself (but UT uses PAI AI aircraft which are freely available from PAI for anyone to download)3: Update function allows you to connect to their server to download the latest repaints. December schedules were free - future airline schedules will (as far as I am aware) incur a subscription fee.NEGATIVE:-1: Interface is confusing, clunky and needs "mouse-over" information to explain what everything does (manual is comprehensive but not particularily well-written IMHO). Error messages need more information for the user.2: Still some bugs within producing missing textures on some airliners which defeats the point in buying it in the first place (it took me a frustrating 2-3 hours to sort out the FlyBe textures by manually downloading them from PAI).Hope this helps!RegardsAdam MooreLondon UK
January 21, 200422 yr The improved FS04 version has been completed, should be released any time now!http://fsgateway.com/frank/fs9paibeta.jpg
January 22, 200422 yr I recieved UT as an X-mas gift this year. Overall, I'm very impressed. It doesn't seem to add any GA flight plans or aircraft above the default MS ones (someone correct me if I'm mistaken) but the sirline traffic is very impressive. Framerate hit hasn't been too bad for me. I have an Athlon XP1900, Radeon9700 pro, 768 mb of DDR266. My in-the-middle-of-nowhere framerate stays locked at 25. At an international airport, it drops to 18-20 on approach, and maybe 15 while taxiing near the gates with 20 AI aircraft in view. I agree that the setup interface really bites. One thing that annoys me is that if you are using anything other than 96 DPI desktop fonts, the menu formatting gets all screwed up. It would have been better if they had use standard Microsoft dialog boxes and chrome rather than writing their own fancy UI. It was very cool of them to give us the December schedule updates for free. Future updates are a reasonable price, too.I would like the ability to add more variety of GA ai aircraft, though.
January 22, 200422 yr I just downloaded and installed My Traffic but I've been unable to get any traffic to appear in FS9. I created all flights and folders, and I've copied the Mytraffic.bgl file to FS9/Scenery/World/scenery folder, and deleted my existing Traffic_PAI.bgl file, all with no luck. What am I missing?http://www.2decker.com/media/solent1-2.JPGAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD PowerSpec G426 PC running Windows 11 Pro 64-bit OS, Intel Core i7 11700K @ 3.60GHz 30 °C, 4089MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 , ASUS TUF Z590-Plus Gaming motherboard, Samsung 870 EVO 2TB SSD, Samsung 750 EVO 500GB SSD, Acer Predator X34 34" curved monitor (external view), RealSim Gear G-1000 avionics suite, RealSim Gear GNS 450, Slavix Stay Level Custom Metal Panel, Honeycomb Alpha Yoke, Redbird Alloy THI, Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals.
January 22, 200422 yr Hi,You need to rename the following file to something that does not end in .bgl (your file may not have the EXACT same name, but it will be very similar)...H:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9SceneryWorldscenerytraffic030528.bglReanme it to something like traffic030528.bgl.old or traffic030528.bgl.passiveAs far as I know this is the only thing that the MyTraffic 2004 installer doesn't take of for people who install MyTraffic. Unless of course you have installed other AI Traffic such as you have done Alex.Hope that helps,Jim
January 22, 200422 yr Jim:So rename my former Traffic.bgl as you describe, then what, copy the MyTraffic.bgl into the same folder?http://www.2decker.com/media/solent1-2.JPGAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD PowerSpec G426 PC running Windows 11 Pro 64-bit OS, Intel Core i7 11700K @ 3.60GHz 30 °C, 4089MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 , ASUS TUF Z590-Plus Gaming motherboard, Samsung 870 EVO 2TB SSD, Samsung 750 EVO 500GB SSD, Acer Predator X34 34" curved monitor (external view), RealSim Gear G-1000 avionics suite, RealSim Gear GNS 450, Slavix Stay Level Custom Metal Panel, Honeycomb Alpha Yoke, Redbird Alloy THI, Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals.
January 22, 200422 yr Alex,IIRC, you just rename the default trafficxxxxxx.bgl that came with FS2004 as I stated above and then that's it, your done, as the MyTraffic.bgl should already be in there. That's If I Recall Correctly. ;-)Jim - KDEN
January 23, 200422 yr Thanks for the input guys. I went with the consensus and bought Ultimate Traffic. Can't say I've really seen a lot more traffic, though. However radio calls are to "real" airlines now and not the ficticious ones that come in FS2004.Tonight I took off from Baltimore-Washington and didn't see a single plane on a taxiway. I need to spend some more time with it to really see how it's working. Two other things I noticed. Now in the aircraft selection list (in FS2004) I have "Flight One AI Aircraft" listed. Also, while in flight, I've seen planes with the red label reading "Flight One AI Aircraft" instead of an actual manufacturer and model. Is that normal? Thanks!Jim
