Quick request (relates to freeze at Flare)..

G'day- I'm looking to record a quick 1-2min video (in 720) showing a manual AIII landing on a CatIII ILS in minima wx..My reasoning is that I would like to study it and nail manual landings in minima..I have had some pretty successful attempts, but like a few others, I seem to experience freezes as I follow the + (flare command) up to the horizon..So if someone with some skill could generously record a nice smooth video of just the HUD in AIII mode, and upload it to YouTube in 720, it would be greatly appreciated (preferably showing from auto-transition to AIII mode right until a complete stop). Thanks, and hope to hear from someone who can help!Cheers,Tom

I have had this problem. I completed my flight successfully, having saved a "situation" file on the approach. Whenever I loaded the saved flight, everything worked - until 10 feet above the ground (actually, it was location-based: the sim would also freeze and then crash if I entered yaw mode and flew across the runway threshold at 100 or 200 feet). Also, I had saved "situations" earlier in the flight (at climb, cruise and descent). The same problem occurred whenever I tried using these saved flights, too. Re-loading the sim and re-booting the PC made no difference: it was 100% repeatable. HOWEVER, from the SAME saved flight, if I selected a DIFFERENT landing runway, then it DID work properly. So while still some distance from the airport (EGLL in my case), I changed the landing runway from 27L to 27R and changed ILS frequencies: bingo. In short, my feeling is that something goes wrong in the way the NGX handles the NAV database in some situations. So my suggestion is to try a different runway and see if it helps.Tim

In the case of non-parallel runways, where the pilot would be required to do some moving about to catch a different approach, this suggests you could also save a few miles farther away, select a different runway, then reselect the original.

Thanks for the tips. I have tried everything I can think of.I have slid all scenery back to mins, zero autogen, even tried running in half speed just to check that fsx wasn't being pushed too hard! Yet the game freezes at or just before the flare (ie always below a few hundred feet). It's like my pc hasn't got enough processing power to deal with the flare mode? (and all the transitional modes involved in the last phase of descent).. I'm running a Q6600 with a 460gtx and 8gb DDR2 ram 750w pwr.. I've attached a quick video of what I am talking about (it happens every time, so loaded up FRAPS and recorded one of them). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivNfFpyLEo0 Hopefully I am flying the approach correctly, but I am yet to actually even see what the flare mode and rollout mode look like! So again, if anyone can record something similar to what I just posted, but showing the touchdown through the HUD, it would be most appreciated (Ie the last 1-2mins of a manual AIII approach). And if anyone has any suggestions as to why this is happening (there was a thread about the exact same topic, but it hasn't been updated for over a month). I have tried with an original install, as well as all the hotfixes.. Cheers again, - I just did another approach, and this time tried to Go Around using TOGA, but as soon as I pushed the button, it locked up. (again, Complete Freeze = MS FSX not respondng..)I'm really thinking my PC just cannot handle this bird.. Tom
