Hardware upgrade

Hi to all, I am thinking about upgrading my PC with new Video Card.Currently I have as you see in my profile Zotac GTX 260, 896MB.Generally i am pleased with performance having 15-25 FPS in virtual cockpit in heavy scenaries with NGX.The major problem is sudden FPS drop bellow 10 a lot of times, which are reducing from all fun with NGX as the aircraft moving in "steps".The question is: Should I upgrade something to receive better performance with NGX (videocard, memory...)?Which video card would you advise good performance relative to cost.Or the performance of NGX in virtual cockpit is going to be better after SP1.Maybe some definitions in my CFG file should be corrected.I tweaked CFG file with Bojote's tweaking tool. Thanks

Did you also used the FPS Limiter set at 30 and unlimited in FSX?If you used Bojote´s cfg fix, then you should be ok if you answered those question rightbefore sending your cfg.Your video card should be ok for FSX./ Leffe

I have pritty the same card than you. Somehow good one and I get 30 FPS in most scenerios. But if I get into heavy weather it gets a bit laggy, so I´ll upgrade to an EVGA GTX 560 Sc in a couple of days. Maybe it´s also time for upgrade on your´s?!

Best regards, Steffen

I too have a GTX 260 and when in a lot of cloud my fps drops and am too thinking its about time to upgrade my card. I would be most interested to see if your upgrade does help this drop. If you could report back with your experiance I for one would appreciate it. Regards

Wow...Texture_MaxLoad should be 1024 (Ultra high) or 2048 (HD) or 4096 (HD) BTW...the only way to get better FPS in heavy scenery is to have a fast CDU.A good card will however help with tecture. / Leffe

No, I am talking about TextureMaxLoad=30 in the [Display] section,You are talking about TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=1024 in the [Graphics] section ;) I don't need better framerates. The FPS i am having are ok except when they go down bellow 10.

Hi Huys,I am planning to upgrade my Video Card with Asus GTX 560 Ti.But i know this alone will not be enougth. So i am planning to overclock my CPU to 4.0 GHz. For this i need new CPU cooler because current is not good enough. What are you thinking about it. What CPU cooler you can recommend?BR

if you have some more moeny, you can try to go with an H2O cooler like the Corsair H60 or H50.If the money is a bit mnore thight, the Scythe Mugen II, Coolermaster Hyper 212+ or the Noctua NH-D14 should be suffice. The only negative point with these is that you´ll have to have a big case couse they´re very big.

Best regards, Steffen

The money allways a prob.My case is CoolerMaster Centurion 590 Black Case. Is it enough for Noctua NH-D14 or Scythe Mugen II?

Hi Guys,So today i purchased my ASUS GTX 560 TI CARD.So I installed it, changed all settings and performed two flights with NGX in heavy FPS airport. Before it I overclocked my CPU to 3.8 GHz with stability test and without any problems. The result was great! FPS increased to 25-30 in VC with FPS antilag limiter.BUT the stutters problem still was.So I readed some place that antilag can be a problem.Unfortunetly i can't use FPS limiter because i can't get it work on my PC from some reason.I removed it and stutters just dissapeared.Performance is great!!! I performed another test flight and everything perfect. LOL.gif
