October 29, 201114 yr Hi guys, finally I took the plunge and orderd a new EVGA GTX 560 SuperClocked as an replacement for my solid working GTX 260. But there´s one thing I´m not really sure about: I´ve currently the 280.26 drivers installed and they´re working fine so far. How do I have to make the change? Is it just the old card out and the new one in or do I have to delete the drivers before and install them with the new one in? Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
October 29, 201114 yr Something like this:Use the "perform clean installation" option in the driver installer (you'll need to pick Custom / Advanced intallation type)Restore your Inspector profile for FSXDelete all the existing video card entries in your FSX.cfg (the ones that look like[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480.0]Mode=1920x1080x32Anisotropic=1)Run FSX

Should the old ones be deleted prior to this?. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
October 29, 201114 yr So you say that I should reinstall the drivers with the new card in?Yes, install the card, then the drivers (clean install) then inspector, then FSX.cfgShould the old ones be deleted prior to this? No, that's what the clean installation is for
October 29, 201114 yr Author So i throw the new card in and install the 285 drivers via the "clean Install" option, restore the inspector settings and the cfg and I´m good to go. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
October 30, 201114 yr If you like the 280 drivers and they support your new card, there is no reason togo to the 285 drivers.. Bert
October 30, 201114 yr Author If you like the 280 drivers and they support your new card, there is no reason togo to the 285 drivers..They´re working great so far. So I´ll just throw in the new card and see what´s happening. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
October 30, 201114 yr Author You will have to restore your Inspector settings after install! Will save my current setting and releoad it afterwards. That should be all I have to do. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
October 31, 201114 yr Will save my current setting and releoad it afterwards. That should be all I have to do.It's better to start a new profile from scratch. Changing the driver can change the profile options.I mean come on, it takes 30 seconds anyway :)
October 31, 201114 yr Let me know if you see a lot of improvementI'm considering the exact replacement of my old 260 to a new 560allen
November 1, 201114 yr Author I´ll do that.Btw. it has been shipped today, so it´ll be here on wednesday. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
