Square Tire Touch Down Smoke

Featured Replies

Hi, this issue has just happened today. It happens in all aircraft even payware ones and all payware/default scenery. Upon touchdown instead of getting the smoke effect I get black squares. Look at the images to see what I mean. Is there any way to fix this as I don't want to reinstall FSX because of the HUGE (48) number of add-ons I have and FSX tweaks! I hope it is just a simple need of replacing the effect in the effect folder.Hope someone can helpAaron G.

I have just replaced the FSX Effects folder with one from yesterday by using Windows 7s' Previous Version feature. Everything is fine. I discovered that when I installed a freeware aircraft this morning it replaced the tire touchdown effect. For those of you who read PC Pilot it is the free MD-11 for FSX they give you in this months issue that replaced the effect. The free MD-11 is appalling quality even by freeware standards.Hope if anyone else has this issue it is now resolved.Aaron G.

I'm glad you found a way to "fix" what someone careless had broken without having to resort to drastic measures! For every project I've ever released or had a role in developing, I've created entirely new effect files and bitmaps. Usually there's no need to alter or replace default files!

What projects have you worked on, as I am a beta tester for Aerosoft, Norton Security, Microsoft, AWG Sim. I would like to beta test some of your add-ons. I have just finished testing the Aerosoft Wilga.

Aside from a handful of freeware projects, my commercial work has been for Eaglesoft Development Group, Milviz and ABACUS.And yes, I did act as a technical advisor for Noah... Whistle.gif
