November 8, 201114 yr Thank you, what do you mean by ok-ish and how can I improve?Ok-ish? It means not bad, but a bit of room for improvement. You're already half way there. If you want to get really good, then read up on the basic procedures for that aircraft, so that you know what to do, and then practise, practise, practise!I know you're supposed to plant a heavy jet on the spot reasonably firmly, but the temptation is always there to try and 'grease it on', even if you end up floating too far down the runway - something I've been doing a lot of recently in the PMDG 737NGX! You may find some useful help on the Avsim Flight School forum. I just did a search under 'landing technique' and it came up with lots of interesting stuff.Best of luck, and don't get too hung up on it. Your passengers walked away both times! Ian

November 9, 201114 yr Concerning where to touch down.An old Swissair DC-8 captain told me a very long time ago that the 'touchdown zone' is called touchdown zone because the touchdown takes place in that area. There's not much to add.Of course with a tailwind component on a wet (grooved or not) and short runway it's not advisable to touchdown at the far end of the TDZ, but under normal cirmumstances there's no need to drop the plane exactly at the 1000ft marker. We are talking about airliners, passenger comfort, and structural life of the plane, so it's the aim to achieve a smooth touchdown. If you want you can PM me and we'll talk about that in detail :(
