November 17, 201114 yr When executing an instrument approach on an aircraft with IAN (such are yours), it is important to check the navigation source shown above left of the attitude direction indicator (ADI). If you are trying to do an ILS approach and "ILS" is not shown, you have a problem - the diamond indicators on the PFD will NOT show ILS localizer and glideslope deviation. Here you have "LNAV/GP", which means that the deviation indicates are showing deviation from the LNAV path and the FMC calculated glidepath. The deviation indicators on the ILS mode of the ND will always show ILS deviation. David Zhong New video every Thursday: Aircraft Lighting - Boeing 777

How do I change my nav source to ILS so I can execute an ILS landing?Manfred Manfred G. Ships are cooler that you think.
November 17, 201114 yr Select G/S on in the FMS REF page(it should be by default if you've selected an ILS), set the frequency in both radios, and the course in both course boxes on the MCP
November 17, 201114 yr If you have pressed "APP", at the very minimum "FAC" or "LOC" should be shown in white under LNAV. Judging from the standby ADI, you have a valid ILS LOC tuned at least on the left side. Pressing APP in this case should cause "LOC" to become the active mode. There appears to be no GS needle in the standby ADI... not sure what's going on there. David Zhong New video every Thursday: Aircraft Lighting - Boeing 777
November 17, 201114 yr David,There is a G/S needle in the ADI but ist way up....how ever, try to enter the glide slope and Loc mode not in LNAV/VNAV but in Alt Hold and HDG mode, you will be better able to destinguish if the AC actually follows the ILS... November 21, 201114 yr Author I just landed again in ENGM and this time I succeeded in landing with the ILS G/S although one strange thing happened. I entered the standard ILS 01L in the FMC and both nav frequency's but then when I pressed "app" the aircraft armed the G/P. Knowing now that I don't want the G/P but the G/S i started playing with the MCP buttons and when I repressed "app" it armed the G/S... I was then able to fly all the way down to threshold and land. I am not sure which button did it but I am pretty sure that arming the "VOR/LOC" before made it switch to G/S. It may also have been another button but I can't remember. Anyway my problem got fixed and it was pilot error :( Thx for help everyone :)Manfred Manfred G. Ships are cooler that you think.
