November 13, 201114 yr I know this is possibly quite common with most, but seems unusual considering my fair PC spec?I was around ORBX's YBBN which i know is hard on FPS. My autogen is V dense and AI 100%, but my FPS aren't really too bad, they stay about 19-25.But after take off, i hadn't panned around in the VC since before takeoff, so i thought i would. As i did pan and got close to looking toward where the airport and city are. My entire sim stopped for what seemed like a second before allowing me to continue panning. i returned to forward view and then panned around again toward the airport, and apart from a FPS drop to about 17, it didn't stutter. Is this just caused by not panning in a while, and then panning toward a heavy dense area? My system which is due for delivery on the 27th October 2011 Intel i5 2500k 4.5ghz Asus GeForce GTX560ti 1024mb GDDR5 Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 Corsair Vengeance Blue 8gb 1600mhz Seagate Baracuda 500GB 6GB/s 16mb Cache Cooler Master Elite case Cooler Master hyper 212 CPU fan G7 780w PSU - I know i need to upgrade this! 32" BEKO HD LCD screen FSX Acceleration + UTX, GEX, REX, GenX VFR UK, all UK2000 airports, Mogwaisoft Shade, many Aerosoft Major Airports And... PMDG's 744X Queen of the skies. Total outlay about £1500. Next i intend on getting a good Yoke and peddles.

November 14, 201114 yr Once the scenery files have been dropped out of the disk cache, looking at the airport forces a mass reload of all the bgls, textures, and AI airplanes (assuming you're close enough to the field). That will bring even the fastest PC to a stop for a moment. The reason it didn't do it again after the first pause is that those files were then placed into the disk cache and accessed orders of magnitude faster on subsequent reads...until enough time passes since they are last read and they are again flushed from the cache.Another possible aggravating factor is if your machine is set up to spin down the HDD to save power...reloading scenery files would then have to wait for the drive to spin back up.To help with the first one, you might try using Sysinternals' freeware Cacheset program to force a large/persistent cache of ~3GB. For the second, you'll want to go into Control Panel -> Power Options -> Change Plan Settings (for the selected power mgmt scheme) -> Change Advanced Power Settings -> Hard Disk -> Turn Off Hard Disk after and select "Never"All that said, something of a pause is common even on fast machines when scenery is first panned into view. Old thread but just wanted to say even though it took me forever to find, its the only thing that solved my stuttering on my 560ti also. Thank you and I hope this may help others.
