Some of you, so I know, use my edit of the Katana 4x windows, which I made transparent soon after I bought the Katana. I also made a version that was a bit in between the original version (very tinted) and the complete transparent one. I like the transparant one myself a lot and use it all the time, because I love a clear view on PNW. However, if you use that transparent version, you may also be a bit annoyed by the black bars you see on the window on the left and right... Those bars belong to the little side windows, but those windows are completely gone with the transparent version.Today I dived into the dds again and created a version that is 100% transparent but now still shows the side windows (though of course not as heavily tinted as the original, otherwise they would stick out too much). Now you can see the window again, the black bars don't float in space anymore and you can even open the little window, which is nice on a hot er... autumn day. Yes, you can do that, but if you want to you can also place the file in one of the Katana's texture folders with a callsign (or whatever you call that): then the file will only be used with that specific Katana. In fact, that's even better because some of those folders have their own reflection file, so when you put it in the main texture folder, some Katana's might still have the tinted window.

I think that when you overwrite a previous installation, the history will be saved. Since they don't release patches for the Katana, I usually uninstall the previous version and install the new one as brand new. Anyway, if you want to be sure your history is saved you have to back up the data.cfg, which can be found in the folder (which is hidden btw by default so you have to unhide it first):C:UsersUSERNAMEAppDataRoaming4X_DATADiamond DA20-100 'Katana'If you copy that file somewhere else before installing and put it back after installing, I think all should be fine. I never tried it though... (EDIT You might also want to keep the backup of your data.cfg, start FSX, load the Katana and check if your history is indeed saved: maybe a new installment will overwrite the data cfg... So load the Katana once and then overwrite a possible new config with your backupped one... if you still know what I mean... ;) )

hi JeroenI 've tried your transparent cockpit. It works fine. I fly the US version only because I can't speak germanI don't think that the default glass is unrealistic, but when the glass is transparent I enjoy the scenery more.

That's odd. There should be a folder called 4X_DATA in the Roaming folder... Maybe you have to look into another user's Roaming folder...? Wait, here's a better idea. Try this: go to the Start menu, copy and paste the following line into the search field%AppData%4X_DATADiamond DA20-100 'Katana'and hit Enter. If all is well the folder should open and you should see the data.cfg! At the top of the window you should be able to see the specific path to this folder on your computer and in which userdirectory the folder is in. If it works you might want to create a shortcut on your desktop (or where ever you want) to that specific folder so you can reach it easily the next time. If it doesn't work. er... report back. ;)

hii've not been able to find where to get the updates on the aerosoft website. I checked my account and found out that the link to my order had been updated to the latest 1.03 a version. I wish they had told me about the update. I will install this version later but I don't know the purpose of the update.

I think Marcel Felde said that 1.03 was released too soon. Users then found some minor bugs like the black spot where the magazines should be or the missing clickspot for the temperature sensor. So you are mainly seeing the changelog for 1.03 in 1.03a, plus the bugfixes I think.

I got the latest version from my Aerosoft shop account. There isn't an update as such available: you simply get a complete new installer... If the file in Simmarket doesn't say it's 1.03a then er... you could maybe mail Simmarket or Aerosoft...?I also wonder why no one told us there is a new version... Very odd. And I also don't know what's new or changed in 1.03. There only is some talk about 1.02 on the Aerosoft forum. I do know 1.03a was released because two things were missing from 1.03 but what 1.03 offers... I haven't got a clue. It's as if Aersoft itself lost interest in Katana, while it's one of the best (if not THE best) GA addons around.

No items mentioned with 1.03a. But, as said, I think it mainly fixes the 'too early' stuff in 1.03.The Aerosoft forums have this side bar where they list the latest updates.
