Magnetic shift at northern airports

Featured Replies

Since alot has changed since 2006 as far as the poles shifting, Fsx does not receive airac updates like the FMC's in complex add ons, what do I do as far as setting up for an ILS approach? Should I go off the course listed in FSX instead of the fmc or what?

Hi, here http://hsors.pagesperso-orange.fr/navaids.html you can find an update for the mag var table in FSX, obviously nothing happens to runways indicated QFU. If you want to have the correct indication write on the runway, you must manually edit the relative file with some utility.

Fly the approach normally, the only thing thats changed is the runway heading in the FMC's,

That wont work for an ILS approach. The aircraft will fly a incorrect heading according to the runway position. So at this point I will update the mag table in fsx.

The localizer doesn't "know" or "care" about magnetic north. Your aircraft compass will see whatever is in the magdec.bgl file in fsx and "knows" nothing of airac. If the localizer deviation indicator is centered, you are on the proper approach track.scott s..
