PMDG MD-11 or PMDG 747-400X?

Featured Replies

Hi all, I got the 737NGX on released and after using it for 4 months I am looking for something new. I have narrowed my choices to the following 2;

  • PMDG Boeing 747-400X for FSX
  • PMDG MD-11X for FSX

I don't have much time to fly in FSX (4 hours max) so which one is better. I have no FPS issues with the 737NGX. Which one would be better?Hope someone can advise me.Aaron G.

Considering your max flight time is 4 hrs max, I'd definitely take the MD-11. Its also just a little more visually appealing than the 747-400x.-Disclaimer-Completely and utterly my own opinion, choice depends on taste quite a lot

Thanks, I was thinking that but wanted somone else's opinion. Should I buy some McPhat textures as in the AVSIM review they mention that the quality of the PMDG repaints are poor, so should I buy the McPhat textures?Aaron G.

MD-11 bar none. I would also use the PMDG repaints as I have no idea what McPhat repaints are. My opinions do not represent Boeing, McDonnell Douglas, Douglas or PMDG.

Thanks for everyone's opinion. I have just purchased the MD-11X from Amazon. I will give the McPhat textures a miss.Aaron G.

I have been looking at the PMDG J41. Do you think it would be better suited to my needs?Aaron G.

If you want to fly very small flights (100 miles or so), then I would suggest the JS41. Transcontinental flights can be flown by the MD-11.

What would be the maxim flying time in a J41 as I often fly from Heathrow to Innsbruck.Aaron G.

I think you can fly that in 2-3 hours. Though, I've never flown that route. With the speed difference between a jet and a turboprop, maybe 2.

I will cancel the MD-11 and consider the J41. Are the frame rates better or worse than the 737NGX.Aaron G.

Frame rates in the JS41 are excellent.

Great! Is it difficult to master the engines?Aaron G.

You just need to remember to remove the start locks and watch the EGT. You can fry the engines that way but you can disable that in the configuration manager. It takes a little practice but you will get it before long.

MD11 and JS41 was different kind aircraft,i thinking preferences what kind flight do you like,MD11 is long range flight deep failures simulator,js41 has very nice VC nice and control, and you need notice JS41 not failure simulator(only simulator enigne overheat).

I am into to flying routes with a time of 3 hours and maxim 4 hours. I hope this answers your questions. I don't care about failure modes.Aaron G.
