Considering TM A10 Warthog

Featured Replies

Hey gang,I currrently use, a TM Cougar, that has been modded the the Uber2 NXT Gimbal mod, along with hall sensors in the stick and the throttle. I also use the TM Elite rudder pedals, with hall sensors in them as well. I have been very pleased with this setup.I am considering splurging for the new TM A10 controller.I like the looks of it, and if I read correctly, it sounds like my Cougar stick would be interchangeable with the A10 stick.I would be curious to hear feedback from anyone that owns the A10 stick currently, especially if they came from the Cougar and have interchanged the sticks. Thanks for any feedback,

Don B

The WH stick head has one extra button that the Cougar head does not have. Otherwise, they're plug-compatible with each other. What you gain with the Warthog is two throttles. What you'll be giving up is a *very* finely machined custom gimbal. I'm also using a Cougar with Ian's Uber mod gimbals...could not convince myself the Warthog wasn't actually trading down because of those gimbals. What I do find myself wondering is if there's a way to put the Cougar joystick together with the Warthog twin throttles...

That is kind of what I thought, just was not sure how much TM had improved in that area with the WH.I like the idea of the swappable handles for the stick and really like the looks of the throttle, but I will have to give them some serious consideration before splashing that cash...Thanks for the feedback,

Don B

I just received my Warthog HOTAS yesterday. Very impressive. It is going to take awhile to learn the programing.I had a Cougar HOTAS but the pots were going and the friction dial no longer functioned properly on the throttle. I had to jam a fingernail file in it to keep from going to full throttle all the time.I had a set of the TM rudder pedals but replaced them with Seitek.Russ

Yeah, my Cougar is all Hall Sensors, stick, throttle and in the Elite Rudder pedals. With the gimball mod in the stick, it really is a very smooth stick.I really like the looks of the WH and it is tempting, I am just not sure yet that it would be that much better for me over what I have now.Still considering it though. Is the software much different on it than the Foxy software for the Cougar? Thanks for the feedback!

Don B

The software is be much different. So far what I have seen are profiles for individual planes in various simulators.I was hoping for at least a generic one for FSX. I guess I will have to start learning the script editing software.Russ
