What exactly do you mean there? Can you refrase?
This link from MS describes how to run Bootrec:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392It assumes you have the Win 7 DVD. My understanding is that if you get a pre-installed Win 7 with a computer, the manufacturer may have configured it so the menu that is shown when you hit F8 during boot to includes the option to start the recovery environment from there, without having the DVD as shown here:scott s..

What did you do?
I did exactly what you told me to do, boot into safe mode, then download Malwarebites freshly.

Well done Linux... glad to see you step in here with some knowledge.First step as Linux has shown, is not nuking (reformatting) the hard drive. Sure you can do it... but there are easier things to do first. This Java script stuff / malware is really quite annoying. I was hit with JS:Prontexi from Anandtech.com during March of 2010 (first time ever for anything... for more info on JS:Prontexi see: http://forums.anandt....php?p=29544429 & https://blog.avast.c...%93-jsprontexi/ ). I was very "sore" at ESET / Explorer for not having blocked it, and switched to Firefox (added ADBLOCK) as a result. Simple enough to deal with, but very frustrating when I first was hit.For a very good "self help" article at keeping this junk at bay, solving malware problems and "better" (i.e. more secure) ways to browse, please read this excellent article in MaximumPC: http://www.maximumpc..._latest_malware
