Carenado 208 repaint tutorial by any chance?

Featured Replies

hey all, tried searching for a good Carenado 208 repainting tutorial for PSD but can't seem to find one, I've tried using other tutorials and comparing them, seems to be working okay but didn't know if there was a more official one!thanks in advanceNate

As you know, Carenado doesn't have a paint kit for the 208, so you have to play with the blank livery and build the layers from that. It's a trial and error method to get the right colors you want. Take for instance the Era Alaska green and yellow livery I did. One has a grey lower half fuselage, while the other didn't When I added the green layer on top of each, I had to use "multiply" for one layer, and "hard light" for the top green layer so that it would look just right. On the one I didn't use a grey layer, the green layer by itself had to be "Hue" in order to look the same as the other livery. If you use PaintShopPro, then you know what I'm talking about, but if you don't, all this is just a bunch of mumble jumble and I would be wasting my time. Any way, you have to play with the color palette, and the transparent settings to be able to get the effect you want. Then there is a matter of the Alpha Channel, which is another animal in it self. To much or to little, and you will either be looking at a glassy finish and diluted colors, or not the right shade of color you was looking for.

Bill Womack did a great video on painting planes without proper paint kits.

Yeah, he did although he uses Adobe PhotoShop, but the concept is similar in PSP.
