Things that Impressed me with the demo

Featured Replies

I thought id mention some of the things that really impressed me with XPlane and the Xplane 10 demo. -- I love the night lighting (best ive seen)-- The cloud shadows add depth and look really nice to me.-- Roads and road traffic are very well done!-- The interface has taken some getting use to, but I’m liking it now that I’m use to it and I actually like it now.-- Austin’s openness for discussing X-plane during and after its creation is very refreshing! I’m also impressed that such a small group of programmers could put this out on multiple operating systems. Linux, Windows and MAC, not to mention the Xplane 9 Iphone/Ipad app's (which I have, and are lots of fun). I’m not a programmer, but I would think this is a monumental task. where does he find the time? right now, I’m enamored with learning the PMDG 737, and I just don’t have the time to devote to 2 sims right now. However, I will pick this up to support Xplane, as I think this hobby (whether it FSX, Flight or Xplane) is too small and I like to do may part to keep it alive. This feuding between sims is unproductive and just further divides up our tiny community. I wish Austin and Laminar much success! competition is good for all of us. Rob

+1! You are right, the few remaining sims need to prosper to prevent a monopoly and stagnation. If there was no competition, you wouldn't see things like this, at 30fps, right now.stampe_1.jpg

I have to agree also.I just did an evening landing (16:50 Local) to the North at 0S8 Port Orchard in the 172. On approach, the landing light illuminating the ground and trees is amazing. It looked REAL! Also, I could be wrong, but I think the airport beacon is brighter. Still a bit fast changing from white to green but it did appear brighter as did the ones in the distance.
