December 8, 201114 yr Hi guys. Having just recieved a newsletter via email from Simmarket I notice that FScene is being sold at a discounted price and I was wondering if this is something worth purchasing.Bearing in mind that I already have installed Ground Environment 2006 (Not the PRO version as that does not work on my system for some strange reason!) and also I have Ultimate Terrain Europe, so I think the question shoud be do I really another similar product or would I be wasting my money?Any recommendations/comments as usual would be a great helpThanksMark Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Packard Bell imedia S3210. AMD Athlon II X 3 425 Processor 2.70 GHz. 3 GB RAM. External hard drive 1TB. FS9.1, Ground Environment, Ultimate Terrain Europe, REX, Zinertek's Ultimate Water Advanced & Ultimate Night Environment 2010, WOAI, MAIW, AES, ODG Project.
December 8, 201114 yr Mark. I have the product and like it, BUT, in this life what one person likes , another person may disagree, so it's hard to pass an opinion. As the saying goes, " you pays your money and takes your choice".RegardsEchofox
December 8, 201114 yr Hi.I have FScene and think it looks very good when compared with the default ground textures- a lot more realistic. I also use Ultimate Terrain Europe. UT won't have any effect on your textures, it just uses whatever textures are there and replaces only landclass, coastlines, roads et c.I just did a quick search for Ground Environment and see that it too provides replacement textures. I'd say if you're happy with them then FScene will be redundant as it is only a replacement texture set.Regards,D
December 8, 201114 yr Commercial Member I have FScene, it's pretty good, although just a single set of textures. I found them to be a bit oversaturated (maybe even borderline "wild", to be honest). GePro on the other hand gives you a set of more realistic ground textures to begin with, as well as several sets of sky textures, and also adds the ability to custom tint either sky or ground textures with built-in image processing ability. This lets you do things similar to what "Shade" does for FSX with your sky textures, or create a really gloomy set of ground textures to be used on a very overcast day, for example. I don't know about GE 2006 as I don't have it and have never played with it, but in my opinion the money would be better spent upgrading to GEPro than adding FSScene. Your mileage may vary :( .Jim
