December 15, 201114 yr Ehm... the light in the overhead has nothing to do with emergency light and is powered by 28V AC from transfer bus ONLY...With cold & dark it must be off.The emergency light is in the same position of the dome light, above the captain circuit breaker panel.Thats what I thought when I first reported it...http://forum.avsim.net/topic/345257-the-most-minor-issue-found-so-farIf the emergancy lights are armed and there is no power (either because you turned the battery off or there is a disaster in progress), then this light comes on, allowing the pilot to work in an otherwise dark cockpit. December 15, 201114 yr I tested your problem on the 800WL and I've not found any issue about the lights except for the overhead bulb that is always on (as seen on this topic) and the airborne data loader placards near the cockpit door (text always illuminated).Just to explain:As told before, the cockpit ave a flood ligt tat illuminate the pedestal, its control is on the pedestal, the power is from 28V AC from XFER bus (2 in my memory) This means that its power will be avaiable when aircraft is powered, so, there is a little issue on it as it is on also if unpowered. I think that is not a panel or gauge error, is only a problem of the effect, as the ligt will not illuminate the gauges. Now, to the dome lights and emergency lights:There are 2 dome lights in the cockpit, one of them (over the captain) has a second bulb powered by emergency ligts. The power for the emergency lights come from some battery packs installed in the aircraft cabin, if I remember correctly the cockpit light is powered by one of the battery pack installed on the fwd attendant ceiling panel, but this is a bit over the topic :) .The emergency lights will come on either if one of the switches (cockpit or attendant station) is set to ON or if the DC bus 1 power is lost in ARM position. When the conditions are true, the dome light behind the captain seat will illuminate. The dome lights are powered by the battery bus and controlled by the dim-off-brt switch on the overhead. The battery bus is not the hot battery bus, the battery bus is powered after the closure of one of 2 relays. This relays are linked to the battery switch position and TR3 output. Either one or the other will supply this bus. Another way to force it to work is by putting the STBY PWR to BAT position. So, when you switch on the battery, the light will always work, if you switch off the battery it will turn back off. If you don't see it off (so the cockpit is illuminated), it is probably related to the emergency ligths not off.I tested it in these minutes, the logic of the light is perfect, it will come on, uses 1 amp of current, and will come on also if the STBY PWR is used istead of battery switch.
