December 14, 201114 yr Has anyone else noticed this: On the forward overhead above (in the attached image) what used to be a grey-looking ball shape undefined by FCOM now suddenly has been appearing as a very bright light (see attached image) which appears regardless of panel state. It DOES NOT appear at night with all electrice off, however, but will appear once battery is turned on. What is this? I have been using SP1 but never saw it until last 2 flights. I have not yet installed SP1b but this phenomenon was not mentioned as a problem nor a fix. Anyone else noticing this?
December 14, 201114 yr It's the dome light for the pedestal panels. Kenneth Weir My Saitek yoke mod i7 2600k @ 4.7 8GB Gskill CAS7 2x GTX580 SLI Surround + GT520 Accessory Win7x64
December 14, 201114 yr Dome lights are on the back wall of the flight cockpit, that's the center pedestal light that shines down. -Raven HarrisIntel i7 980X @ 4.43GHz | ASUS Rampage III | Corsair 6GB DDR3 2000MHz | 3 EVGA GTX280 | Corsair 1200 Watt | Intel 510 SSD (RAID 0)PMDG - 747-400/8iF | MD11/F | BAe J41 | 737NG 6/7/8/9 Hope ER/BBJ|777LR/FFlight1- Cessna Mustang
December 14, 201114 yr Author If that were the case, it would be turned off with the dome light switch, but it does not. Notice also that in my image above it is still shining with ALL POWER OFF!
December 14, 201114 yr Craig,That's what it is. If it's illuminated with no power then you've got an issue, possibly a corrupt panel state. Kenneth Weir My Saitek yoke mod i7 2600k @ 4.7 8GB Gskill CAS7 2x GTX580 SLI Surround + GT520 Accessory Win7x64
December 14, 201114 yr Author Thanks, Jason. Mystery solved. It's good to have an aircraft mechanic handy when you need one! lol! I am puzzled by the other responses I received, however. Once I turn off "light bloom" that area just stays dark. I does not illuminate when I turn on pedestal lights. The FCOM does not address that spot or light in any of its panel descriptions. It would make sense that it would be a light bulb, but what switch turns it on? Do you know?
December 14, 201114 yr On the pedestal, near the panel light, the "spot light" knob Regards Andrea Daviero
December 14, 201114 yr Author On the pedestal, near the panel light, the "spot light" knobAnd obviously that would make perfect sense, Andrea, but I can find no "spot light" knob. I do find the Panel light and the Flood light rheostats but turning both of them to full bright illuminates the pedestal but the "bulb" on the overhead still remains dark now that I have deactivated "light bloom". If this area shown in the image in my OP is indeed a light bulb and is for the pedestal, then why won't it show illuminated or is that something that just hasn't been implemented?
December 14, 201114 yr a 1665 bulb... And obviously that would make perfect sense, Andrea, but I can find no "spot light" knob. December 14, 201114 yr Author With light bloom turned off, you can't really see it on the overhead That finally is the answer I needed. At first it had sounded as if others were able to see this light illuminated and I cannot. Apparently, PMDG decided not to show it as illuminated. I was about to uninstall and reinstall thinking I had a corrupt panel. Thanks again, Jason, for the clarity.
December 14, 201114 yr The last time I checked, it is not fully modelled, the bulb (with bloom) generates the effect also with Cold and dark configuration, on or off.Maybe it is a limit or a not solved bug, it was already reported, but as the problem can be seen only with non normal views maybe the problem will not be solved. However I must check it again. Regards Andrea Daviero
December 15, 201114 yr This is one of those 'gotchas' that put the NGX into the next league. The switch controling it is just below it on the overhead and yes, it does come on when there is no power and no that is not a bug, that is the correct behaviour. (hint - check your emergancy lights switch position)How visible that light is is dependent on your Bloom settings but the effect of the light is to allow a pilot to work in an otherwise dark cockpit. December 15, 201114 yr Ehm... the light in the overhead has nothing to do with emergency light and is powered by 28V AC from transfer bus ONLY...With cold & dark it must be off.The emergency light is in the same position of the dome light, above the captain circuit breaker panel.
