December 15, 201114 yr Hi guys, quick one that has been bugging me for some time.I have always had a Vref 30 of around 139-140kts given to me by the FMC. I mostly fly around 80% payload with a landing fuel weight of around 1.5-1.7 tonnes. This has always seemed about 8-10kts too fast for me. Is anyone else of this opinion?I know it's not an exact thing and varies with many factors but should we be in high 130's generally? Or am I landing with too much fuel ?[let's not start a flame war - just interested if I have been way off on my numbers thus far]thanks Regards, Max (YSSY) i7-12700K | Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB 3600MHz DDR4 | Gigabyte RTX4090 24Gb | Gigabyte Z690 AORUS ELITE DDR4 | Corsair HX1200 PSU
December 15, 201114 yr You're not to fast. When your FMC says that you have an Vref of 140 knots than you can beleave this value. You also don't have to much fuel. How do you come to your conclusion that you're to fast anyway? Greetings from the 737 flightdeck!
December 15, 201114 yr If anything I would aim to land with MORE fuel than that. Anyway these are normal speeds, especially so for the 800 (which tends to land on 40 mostly though) --Peter Fabian
December 15, 201114 yr More like landing with not enough fuel, 1.7 tons seams like a rather light reserve for a :30 to :45 hold and/or a desertion to alternative airport. -Raven HarrisIntel i7 980X @ 4.43GHz | ASUS Rampage III | Corsair 6GB DDR3 2000MHz | 3 EVGA GTX280 | Corsair 1200 Watt | Intel 510 SSD (RAID 0)PMDG - 747-400/8iF | MD11/F | BAe J41 | 737NG 6/7/8/9 Hope ER/BBJ|777LR/FFlight1- Cessna Mustang
December 15, 201114 yr Agreed. I usually end up landing with around 3000kg of fuel. I know it may seem like a lot, specially for simming purposes, but in reality it´s just 45 min reserve + alternate (usually around 200nm) + 15 holding fuel. Now to answer the original quesiotn, it´s not fast at all. When it comes to landing speeds the NGs tend to be pretty fast, with speeds comparable to much larger acft. Trust your FMC and remember to account for the wind when setting your approach speed (Vref is not the same as approach speed in most scenarios) Cheers,Victor M. Lima
December 15, 201114 yr You have barely any fuel. I feel uncomfortable landing below 3.5 kgs and 6.0 in lbs.And welcome to the 737-800. It requires a very delicate touch during the landing phase, or it will just keep flying.
December 16, 201114 yr Author Yeah thanks all. Maybe I exaggerated the fuel. It's probably higher and maybe I need to take more reserve too. Never pay that much attention. I plan it using the Milan Pùta freeware. Anyway thanks for the feedback. Seems like my speeds are right then (-800)FYI have seen a lot of vids on YT with 128,129 but these might be -600's who knows.
