December 17, 201114 yr HiGot this problem of my clouds suddenly popping in from no where. Three flights i have tried now but always the same, at some pont along the route thick cumulis clouds will appear. I have tried a number of configerations but to no avail. What i have being doing is setting my flight plan and then starting FSX, everything else looks great but i have this annoying fact that i will be flying through what would appear clear skys and then all of a sudden the sky is full of clouds. On ASE before i upgraded all would was stable but now i dont know what is wrong. need some help lease. Thanks Shaun
December 17, 201114 yr Commercial Member Hi Shaun,Is this in DWC mode? If so, please try "Prevent Cloud Redraws" option.... Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 17, 201114 yr Hi Shaun,Is this in DWC mode? If so, please try "Prevent Cloud Redraws" option....Can you please explain how this works in DWC mode. How does the weather/clouds change if this is checked? Does having this checked in DWC mode give a more or less realistic weather picture? Eric
December 18, 201114 yr Commercial Member Sorry for the delay, appreciate the patience. Even I need a little sleep every now and then :)The documentation talks about this... to summarize that and to explain further, in some situations in global/DWC mode your clouds will noticeably redraw. This doesn't affect everyone and every situation. This occurs at about 10 minute intervals as AS forces what is called a "seconds zero" write which you may see in the log. If the previous global conditions are "incompatible" with the new global conditions, in terms of cloud layer conflicts, it will redraw... if they are compatible, no redraw. By doing this we ensure that the conditions are accurate at all times at the expense of occasional redraws. By preventing cloud redraws, you ensure no redraws at the expense that the conditions may be off a bit (for example, cloud bases may be off by a few hundred feet). For maximum accuracy to conditions reported, you should not prevent cloud redraws, but we feel that preventing them is an acceptable comprise if you are seeing too much redrawing going on.. .this will all vary depending on the conditions, the route, the options, etc...
