February 13, 200422 yr OK ATI fans ... Catalyst 4.2 released. Go get 'em. :Dhttp://www.ati.com/support/driver.html
February 13, 200422 yr Commercial Member This version is great - I got a really noticable FPS improvment in the new UT2004 demo and in BF1942. FS looks about the same, but hey anything that gives me a big improvement in my other games without sacrificing FS performance is fine by me! February 13, 200422 yr Not a whole heap of change in FS, but in other games, rock solid. Performance is great.

February 15, 200422 yr Installed 4.2 driver early this morning, flew the RealAir SF.260 for 1.5 hours. The only difference I noticed was that twice I lost the insterment panel in Virtual mode twice while switching views inside during flight and outside the aircraft on the ground. I found that switch from full screen to windows screen corrects the problem. But I must say that with 4.1, scenery occasionally would go blurry when switching views, switching windows would clear the issue. This may be a problem with my setup or computer. I did not see a big jump in FPS, I normally run 18-24 inflight with set at 24.Anti-A 4x, Anti-F 16x,ASUS P4C 8000-E Deluxe, P4 3.0 running at 3.15,Win XP Home Editions Service PackATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128 MB2ea Corsair 512 MB DDR400 PC3200 Double DataAntec SL400 W 12V ATX Power SupplySeagate 40 GB 7200 RPMErv KSDF High end with 5090, VR, 2020 & 2024.
February 15, 200422 yr When I had moved up to the 4.1's, I picked up a very slight flash - flicker that occured without any change in screen views - ie: happened when I was just flying or during taxi. Wasn't severe - but noticable. Event was just a single flash to black and back - very quick - almost too quick to view - but noticable. With the 4.2's, that has dissappeared. Although I have read the release notes, and there is no mention of any changes related to my previous issue - something has changed. I often wonder - with my prehistoric dial-up, if a d/l of this size can be corrupted during the 90 minutes it takes me to d/l the 9 meg + files involved in the driver file. Enjoyed 2 flights yesterday - and 4.2's worked to perfection for me....2.89700 Pro 128P4PE1 meg ramAudigyRon
February 16, 200422 yr Works great in FS9, sucks wind in Tiger Woods 2004. BTW, this problem is unique to 9700's. 9800's seem to do fine in TW04 and FS.Cheers,Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. February 16, 200422 yr Although "Sucks Wind" is a very colorful and vivid term, it is unfortunately fairly nondescript when it comes to describing computer problems. What exactly is the problem with Tiger? Image quality, frame rates, crashes?I use my 9600 PRO with TW2003 and have no problems. Been thinking of moving to TW2004, so your comment piqued my interest.
