December 28, 201114 yr Hi,Has anyone ever gotten an error message "Smart Assembly needed on this computer" while running FSX? I was installing the 737 NGX and it appeared to install fine but when I went into FSX to open it, after clicking on one of the icons, I got a black screen with only my cursor arrow, and had to hit escape to bring up the FSX close or not close window. Once back on the desktop, the above error appeared in a red stopsign shaped window.I uninstalled the NGX and on the next attempt, it seems to have installed normally and I was able to enter my registration key and open up the plane in FSX.I posted in the PMDG forum and they mentioned simconnect and .net framework problems with some complicated fixes that may or may not work. I have had no problems with installing any aircraft before nor have I ever gotten this error before.I did some more more searching and found one post where an FSX user with the same error after tweaking his FSX.cfg with *******' Tweaker found an article saying that if the line in FSX.cfg SmallPartRejectRadius = 4.0 is added to FSX.cfg it could cause this error due to a conflict with some NVIDIA driver. I checked and I do have this line in my FSX.cfg which was also added by the tweaker. My NVIDIA driver is 8.17.12.7061. Is anyone else familiar with this and if so is it better to comment out this line and if so, how much of a performance hit is there? Fortunately, I have not seen this error again since the installation of the NGX. Thanks, Tom
December 28, 201114 yr Do you use EZDOK? The only time I get (and it's rare) a Smart Assembly error, is when EZDOK terminates while FSX is still running. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
December 28, 201114 yr Commercial Member SmartAssembly is something used by a number of add-ons to protect their content. I believe Ultimate Traffic 2 may produce this message also. www.supertrafficboard.com
December 28, 201114 yr 1. SmartAssembly is a .NET Code Obfuscator. Sounds like an NGX installation problem. Try am uninstall/reinstall. Is UAC turned off?2. If what you're trying to do is avoid the G3D.dll CTD, you don't need the SmallPartRejectRadious tweak anymore: Just install the latest FSUIPC4 version.Cheers,- jahman.
December 29, 201114 yr Author Thanks for the help, guys. I do not have EZDOC but I do have UT 2. Yes, this occured after my install of the NGX but the next installation was successful. Hopefully I will not get the error again. The SmallPartRejectRadius tweak was added by the Bojote automatic tweaker. I don't even know what it does. As far as FSUIPC goes, I had it installed on my FS9 but thought it wasn't needed anymore for FSX. So far all my addons have had no problems without it. Is FSUIPC built into FSX? Thanks. Tom
December 29, 201114 yr I get it all the time when an addon munges--Just reboot your system and all will be well with the world (it's transient) Jim Atkins
