i5 2500K @ 3.3 GHz to run FSX

Featured Replies

Hi guys.It all started here:http://forum.avsim.n...__fromsearch__1Now just got a call from the vendor, saying that due to my motherboard, he could not OC the damn thing. He advises against upgrading to any new CPU, as I would not benefit of more FPS. He advised re-install Win and FSX for better performance - how little he know! (I run a tight ship with regards to win and FSX - Ultimate defrag regulary, and do not use the machine to anything else).I turned to another vendor, and have my eyes on this: Intel® Core i5-2500K Processor, Socket-LGA1155, Quad Core, 3.3Ghz, 6MB, 95W, Boxed w/fan This to go with a new motherboard that fits. Otherwise my system spec are not altered (my concern is my GTS150 - will it make a bottleneck in this new system)...The i5 is not ordered yet, but I expect to get higher FPS with this system - you agree?Mas

FPS is in direct relationship to the clock speed of the processor. If you can overclock the 2500K (which you should be able to do) then you will be fine. That chip will do somewhere between 4.5 and 5 (although most likely 4.5 to 4.8).Mark.

First off - thx for your reply Mark.I won't be able to OC myself - I simply lack the know-how.However, from what I've read on the web, the i5 2500K itself should be faster and more powerfull, and the fact that I go from 2.6 Ghz on my old i7 920 to 3,3 Ghz on the new i5 should move the FPS up - agree? How much they'll move is probably hard to say, but if I can just squeeze out some more FPS (3-4 maybe) in the hardcore situations, such as EHAM and ENGM in heavy weather, I'll be 100% satisfied...Again, thx for the reply!Mas

The 2500K will blow away your current chip.FPS will be much higher with the 2500K garunteed.
