Yes I've installed the plug in but for some reason they do not support the 2000....

Geof, look at this manual http://blogpdf.com/elite-plugin-for-microsoft-flight-simulator%252C-installation-and-...-30657291. On page 3 it lists your unit as being compatible, and on page 8 it talks about needing FSUIPC. If it can use FSUIPC in FSX, then it should work with XPUIPC in XPX, doesn't make sense to me. Maybe I'll have to buy one and try it. :Worried:Glen

It does work on ms-just not Xplane...But those are my thoughts too.

XPUIPC relies on mapping the offsets in FSUIPC to the datarefs in XPlane. If the Elite hardware relies on offsets not programmed in XPUIPC, that would explain why it's not working as intended. From what I remember, the XPUIPC documentation explained how to add your own datarefs to it's internal definitions (text file based document outlining the offset, dataref and conversion). If you get it working, send the new information to Torsten and he'll put it in the next release.

Thanks for the help! This is probably way beyond my understanding but I will look into it, time permitting.

Muskoka et al1) in preparation for my bu0836x project, trying to interface the GNS430 via external joystick buttons until bu836x arrives: I assigned the "push CRSR" in the lower right (circled yellow) to coarse_select and fine_select under Buttons:Adv. so far so good.but what is the assignment for the "PSH C/V" in the lower left (circled red) ? any ideas?2) if you assign a joystick button instead of using the mouse for "coarse_select" to position the input cursor, this seems to not work sometimes, or maybe it does but you can not see it because unfortunalety they forgot to draw the underline cursor so you don't know what the current input position is. the cursor could be in a wrong position without you knowing it and it may just be impossible to input a character at that very position. you won't know if the logic hangs or you happen to be at a wrong position. also no audible click feedback sound, unlike using the mouse for the same function.so what is the best way to operate the GNS430 using external buttons and rotary switches then? mouse is no alternative for me. I consider this mouse-hot spot issue a general major major design flaw in xplane to define a mouse hotspot the size of needle. why not copy the good ideas from FSX and improve on them instead of making it your own, impractical way, Mr. Laminator?3) the fonts in the GNS430 suck, is there a way to change them and make them actually readable. the letters "M, N, W" etc are hard to differentiate when you enter a DIRECT TO character. I suppose they defined them originally in a too tiny font size and through resizing they get really muddy. unlike the 7 segment LEDs below for the KingAir radio.where should we send bug reports ?

Here it is...It would be nice if there was keyboard input for this kind of data, much rather type stuff in instead of fighting with a mouse in a plane that's bouncing around.Glen

There is only one answer for me (and I am glad the blurry thing isn't just my 50+ eyes)-reality xp. I am eagerly awaiting/hoping there will soon be one for xplane10-I can't live without it!

Geof, won't this work in XPX, don't see why it wouldn't? Is there something I need to know because I was going to buy it?http://www.reality-xp.com/flightsim/gns530-xpl/index.htmlGlen

they only say "is now compatilble with Laminar Research XPlane 9"so I would check first on such a complicated add-on.................................................................................Glen"Here it is..."sorry I meant to TUNE it, i.e. turn that dial to tune those frequencies. That I did not find yet.later:OK, got it, its under the RADIOS/ section, not under GPS, even though you tune them here on the GNS430 radio. go figure. fortunately I have to learn all this only once.crashed today 1/2 mile short of touch down at KGYY Gary on final under semi-IFR conditions at 24 Fahrenheit temps with real weather due to icing on the wings (constant stall warning, gusting winds and rain/snow, Airspeed needle jumped up and down, when all of a sudden the autopilot disconnected, no chance to recover, AS REAL AS IT GETS!that's the time of year to simulate/train IFR approaches in the northern states. something those heavy iron drivers never experience.I should have watched that thermometer better. too bad neither FSX nor XPX show accrued icing on the wings.I really need those extra buttons badly, no time to mouse around under such circumstances. :(

It does not work with 10. A little birdie told me it is being re written for 10 but I don't know for sure.

"A little birdie told me it is being re written for 10"they should make this an external application, so you could run it via network on a 2nd pc and display. that would make changes to future versions a snap as the communication protocol did not change. that way it could easily be interfaced with FSX and XPX

I have no idea what they can do, but I'd like to just be able to put it in the panel, permanently.....

Yes, in the panel...It's pretty hard to beat the Turbine Duke with the 530 in FSX, need something similar (or the same) in XPX.Glen
