February 15, 200422 yr I finally decided to take the plunge and purchased fs9 a week or so ago, at first I hated it, dreadful frame rates, default scenery over my favourite area (European Alps) so unrealistic, I couldn't disable the force feedback on my old and trusted MS forcefeedback Pro, and of course I couldn't use my beloved DF737. After a bit of playing around with various settings I got the frame rates just about acceptable on my modest Athlon 1900/Radeon 8500 system (those clouds are absolute FR killers though), I downloaded Raimondo Taburet's Alps mesh (156mb/8 hours) and the scenery was once more reasonable (though not quite as good as Lago's Terramesh on my fs2002 setup), and unplugging the power supply to my joystick (simple but effective, the only drawback is that I can't be selective about which forces to disable). However I seem to have a couple of problems I can't figure out :-1) While descending through a relatively modest change in wind speed/direction in the default Boeing 737 (Ugh) my IAS drops suddenly to zero which autothrottle then tries to compensate, about 30 seconds later the IAS becomes active again with a reading of about 380 - 400 knots which obviously results in an overstress. The only way I've been able to overcome this is to immediately disengage autothrottle, maintain N1 manually until the IAS becomes active then re-engage autothrottle. Is this caused by the much reported windshear problem? if so has anyone found a workaround for it yet?2) On the same flight (G373 arrival to Klagenfurt, Austria) for which I set up a limited visibility approach with moderate snowfall, I noticed that the snow suddenly stopped when on finals. This happened every time I tried the approach. If I pause the flight, go into options/weather/advanced weather and simply click OK on all pages the snow is once again falling when I return to the flight (very nice snow it is too, pity it doesn't settle on the runways though)I would very much appreciate any help anyone can give me on these two annoying problems. All I want then is my DF737.Many thanks,Pete

February 15, 200422 yr To help with the cloud frame rate killer download the replacement clouds by Chris Willishttp://simflight.com/fsw/
February 16, 200422 yr I also have the problem with snow suddenly stopping. I have to go back into and out of the weather screens to reinitialize it again. I have also had the same experience with the rain. It seems to only fall for a short period of time and then suddenly it stops.Anyone else seeing this?Dewey

February 16, 200422 yr Hi Pete,if you want DF737 in FS9, go here:http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/DC...mID3/10721.htmlThere are more threads about the merge, so it would be a good idea to look around the forum. :)Regards,Jurehttp://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg
February 16, 200422 yr Author Thanks to all who replied to my post. I'm glad I'm not alone with the weather problems I'm having. My reasons for buying were exactly the same as yours Terry, support for fs2002 seemed to be drying up at an alarming rate and almost everyone was saying how great fs9 was so I too just felt that I had to have it. It had taken me almost 2 years to get fs2002 to it's present state (I might go back to it yet) and fs9 seemed such a massive retrograde step immediately after installation, but I suppose I'll just have to grin and bear it and start from the ground up all over again. Thanks for the DF737 merge link Jure, I'd already read about that and sent an email off to Peter McLeland for the info, I haven't had a reply yet though, I expect he's had lots of requests for that one.Regarding searching the forums I don't know about you but I'm finding searching both the forums and file libraries a bit of a chore at the moment, they're so slow, I gave up trying this weekend. Thanks,Pete
