February 16, 200422 yr is anyone else having this issue?from altitude, all of my islands are "squared off". no rounded natuaral coastlines anymore....all straight and squared. i haven't landed there yet so i dont know if this changes when lower or not.since it was a self-installer i dont know what i could've missed.has anyone seen this, or have a fix?thankschris
February 16, 200422 yr I suggest you write to the creator of the scenery, "Cyrus". I had some problems with conflicting carib scenery add ons which he helped me resolve. Send him a jpg of the problem so he gets an idea of what you are up against. His email address is in the scenery docs.Sherm
February 16, 200422 yr You might post a screenshot here as well. I'd venture a guess that it has something to do with scenery layering. What layer is the installed Antilles scenery after it installs? Do you have any landclass/waterclass installed? [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
February 16, 200422 yr Author i'll have to check on its layering. the scenery itself comes with landclass and mesh etc... i have additional caribbean scenery installed but it was for the northern caribbean. once i get home (at work now) i'll look into everything and post a screenshot.my guess is that if i turn off the other scenery for the area that this will show up normally. it looks like trial-and-error time tonight.chris
February 16, 200422 yr Howdy Chris,From the ReadMe:"After the installation, if you only see big flat rectangles instead of islands, please follow these steps:1. Delete "AntillesTerr " and "AntillesObj" areas in FS2004 scenery library through FS2004 scenery library editor. 2. Restart FS2004 3. Manually add (still with FS2004) "AntillesTerr " then "AntillesObj" areas which are located in the "Addon Scenery" directory of FS2004. 4. Finally, restart FS2004 again." Should do the trick. There is also a patch available to help with the GPS CTD; available from FlightSim.com, or the author's website: http://www.jg-laurent.com/ (mind you, the patch seems to only work with default aircraft ... every add-on I've used still produces a CTD :-( ).Hope this helps.
February 17, 200422 yr Author yep...i saw that and i tried it. it helped....kinda. now, instead of solid islands that are square, it looks like i have the scenery working but there are remnants of the default scenery that are just offshore. here's a pic:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/63213.jpgthis is happening to ALL islands in the Antilles. if i go slightly norh to St Kitts everything looks fine. i've de-activated every add-on scenery (mesh) that i have for the area with no luck.i'm going to drop them a line also.thx for your help! any more ideas...please post em!chris
February 17, 200422 yr Author well...i've found the problem. its addon payware landclass that i have installed for N America. once i take that out, all looks fine.i have an email into the authors of Antilles 2004 to see if there is any known fix. i really dont want to get rid of my landclass.....chris
February 17, 200422 yr Howdy,Yep, experienced similar probs at TFFF at one point. A simple re-boot eventually fixed the problem. You mention de-activating all your active Caribbean mesh, but what about "lurker" mesh? (FSGenesis auto-installer installs mesh in your SceneryWorldScenery folder; one which might affect this scenery is the Angel Falls supplement: dem76m_sa_antilles.bgl). Just a thought.
February 17, 200422 yr Author just checked my sceneryworldscenery folder. nothin abnormal in there. i saw...but didn't d/l the angel falls mesh.i think its my strictly my addon landclass. when i removed my landclass bgl all of the antilles looked normal. they looked incredible, actually!hmm...its been awhile since i rebooted....i'll give that a shot. may as well give the ole pc a swift kick in its rear!thanks Capchris
